Does individualistic culture impact operational risk?

Employing a sample of 2,957 operational‐risk events across 31 countries from 1990 to 2011, we find that financial institutions located in countries with higher individualism tend to have higher operational risk. This positive relation is achieved through the risk‐taking channel and the earnings‐management channel. In addition, the magnitude of operational losses is higher in more individualistic countries. The results suggest that individualism serves as an important informal institutional determinant of operational risk in an international context. Endogeneity tests and various robustness checks confirm our findings.

在我国民间融资已有近千年历史,进入建立社会主义市场经济后,民间融资的作用和功能更是得到了创新性的发挥。随着市场经济的发展,民间融资作为一种有效的资金资源配置手段,在优化资源配置、优化社会融资结构、弥补市场资金需求和促进民营经济发展中发挥着显著功效。但由于我国现有法律法规对民间融资的保护、规范和引导等问题上都存在诸多缺陷,严重制约着民间融资的发展,对市场经济的发展也产生了不利的影响。本文从法理的角度论证其合法性,分析我国民间融资的法律制度的弊端。并在此基础上提出了规范和完善民间融资法律制度的建议。     

硒在食品中的应用及发展前景

硒是人体必需微量元素,主要通过膳食供给,膳食中硒摄入不足是导致克山病、大骨节病的根本原因。现代研究发现硒与多种癌症发病有关,补硒具有预防癌症的作用,因此硒也被称作"抗癌之王"。我国大部分土壤中缺硒这是导致我国居民膳食中缺硒的根本原因,随着人们健康意识增强,人们越来越注重硒的补充。许多长期处于高压下的亚健康人群们更加注重选用绿色健康的食物或者通过营养强化食品和保健食品调节自身健康状况,因此富硒农产品的培育、硒强化食品、保健食品具有很大的潜在市场。本文就硒在食品中的应用现状进行阐述,以期为富硒食品的开发利用提供一定参考。     

Self-Regulation for Online Behavioral Advertising (OBA): Analysis of OBA Notices

This study assessed how and to what extent self-regulation of online behavioral advertising (OBA) is executed on participating companies' websites. Based on the principles of OBA, as outlined by the Digital Advertising Alliance and Federal Trade Commission, we analyzed the format of OBA notices, explanation of OBA notices, opt-out options, transparency, and use of unacceptable notices. A series of content analyses was done in the years 2013 and 2015. Our results indicated slight improvements over the years, but the specific details of the implementation continued to fall short of the standards. In terms of accessibility and visibility, many websites demonstrated problematic presentations or lack of the components necessary to increase consumers' understanding and control over the practice of OBA.     

On the tax bias against investments in fixed assets: Empirical evidence from China

China's new Corporate Income Tax Law was passed in March 2007 and took effect on 1 January 2008. We take advantage of this tax law change and use a difference‐in‐differences approach to empirically estimate the impact of taxation on asset structure. Employing the Chinese Industrial Enterprises Database from 2002 to 2008 to implement the analysis, we find evidence suggesting the presence of tax bias against investments in fixed assets. We address two potential concerns about our analysis and argue that our conclusion is not China‐specific; it is a general lesson for modern finance theory that is portable to developed countries.

港口调度是港口生产组织的关键问题,调度方案的好坏直接决定了港口作业的效率,本文首先对集装箱港口物流系统的结构、控制需求等进行了分析,然后提出了应用AutoModV10.0仿真软件,构建具有离散性、随机性特征的港口物流系统模型的方法。     

How Market-Guanxi Ambidexterity Affects Adaptive Capability in China＇s Transition Economy

Whether market- and guanxi-based strategies are complementary or substitutable in shaping adaptive capability is a critical yet controversial issue. This paper tackles this problem by adopting the ambidexterity perspective. Specifically, using a sample of 185 Chinese private firms, this study examines the independent and interactive effects of market orientation （MO） and guanxi orientation （GO, i.e., emphasizing on building business and political ties） on adaptive capability of firms in transition economies. Our results suggest that both direct impacts and complementary impacts of MO and GO strongly exist in shaping firms＇ adaptive capability, indicating the importance of ＂strategic ambidexterity.＂ These findings have several theoretical implications for studies on ambidexterity and adaptive capability, and practical implications for finn strategies in transition economies.
