Economic policy uncertainty and firm investment: evidence from the U.S. market

This paper examines the impact of economic policy uncertainty on firm-level capital investment, by not only delving into the long-term investment-uncertainty relation like previous studies, but also analyzing the short-term investment-uncertainty relation for the U.S. market. The empirical investigations show that firms decrease short-term, long-term, and total firm investments when encountering higher economic policy uncertainties. The research also explores the non-linear investment-uncertainty relation based on various theories. Our findings present a U-shaped relationship between short-term, long-term, and total investments and uncertainties. Policy implications are provided from our empirical results.     

A video game to supplement a hybrid principles of microeconomics course

In this article, the author describes the structure and content of a video game that she developed for a hybrid principles of microeconomics course that consists of two 50-minute lectures and a 50-minute online portion per week. The game comprises seven modules, each of which was assigned to be played during the course of the semester for the online portion of the class. The concepts covered in the game include the circular flow model, demand and supply, externalities, comparative advantage, types of market structure, sunk costs, and game theory, and the article explains in detail how the gameplay was related to these concepts. The game can be downloaded for either Windows or Mac computers, or played online at https://sites.google.com/site/gamesforecon/.     

Product innovation and sustainable marketing: effects on consumer innovativeness

Based on the theory of sustainable marketing and time cognition, this study constructed a theoretical model among product innovation, sustainable marketing, time perspectives, and customer innovativeness. Using a sample of 290 consumers in China respond to a new energy vehicle, this paper examines the influence of firm's product innovation on customer innovativeness through the paths of sustainable marketing and time perspectives. The results showed that product innovation positively affected three dimensions of sustainable marketing, which then had different effects on present and future time perspectives. Time perspectives positively affected consumer innovativeness. According to the findings, this study discussed implications for theory, practice, and future work.     

后金融危机时期互利共赢开放战略的调整方向

互利共赢开放策略是中国30多年开放的经验总结和指导对外开放的基本原则,受到近几年国际金融危机的影响。在后国际金融危机时期,世界经济格局和重建平衡的发展趋势、世界经济增长模式转型、国际金融体系和技术变革以及贸易保护主义的趋势等都要求对互利共赢开放战略进行调整,可以采取以下转换路径：积极开展国际经济合作和区域经济一体化建设,参与重建国际经济秩序与推进人民币国际化,提升人力资本素质和加强科技创新。     

战略联盟价值环节的选择—基于利润分配利益视角的研究

企业加入战略联盟获得的利益来自于价值创造和价值攫取两个过程,它包括分工合作利益和利润分配利益两部分。从经济学视角,通过利润率和需求弹性这两个因素分别剖析了短期、长期情况下企业在价值攫取过程中对利润分配利益的获得情况,从而将价值攫取过程中获得利润分配利益纳入企业选择联盟价值环节的战略框架中。     

国有企业绩效提高主要来源于垄断吗

近年来,我国国有企业绩效明显改善,利润快速增长。面对这种情况,一些人认为国有企业的绩效提高主要来源于垄断。在本文中,笔者通过梳理垄断的判断标准,计算和讨论国有经济分布的主要行业的市场结构状况,认为这一说法在概念上具有误导性,在判断上缺乏依据,因此其结论不可采信,需要我们予以明辨和警惕。     

最终控制人性质、会计信息质量与公司投资效率——来自中国上市公司的经验证据

结合Bushman和Smith的研究框架与我国新兴加转轨的制度背景,以我国沪深上市公司为研究样本,实证发现,会计信息质量与私人产权控股公司、国有资产管理部门和地方所属国有企业控股上市公司的投资过度显著负相关,且这种负相关性在它们间无明显差异;会计信息质量与私人产权控股投资不足显著负相关,但与国有资产管理部门、地方所属国有企业控股上市公司的中央直属国有企业控股上市公司的投资不足负相关性不显著。因此,本文的政策建议是加快完善我国上市公司财务报告和信息披露系统的市场基础设施建设,以更好地发挥会计信息在公司资本配置中的作用。     

相对要素价格均等化:理论模型与实证检验

本文从CES总成本函数的角度,纳入技术水平、要素质量和要素价格等差异化因素,推导了相对要素价格均等化的实证检验模型。中国省际间面板数据(1998-2008)的实证检验结果表明中国省际间存在相对要素价格多锥形均衡,劳动力要素相对价格显著不等,进而从要素供给弹性、国际市场需求变化和产出调整机制等角度做了阐释。     

河南省高等教育与经济协调发展研究

高等教育与经济发展的良性互动,是实现可持续发展的重要保证.一般来讲,二者应呈现正相关的关系,但是也有超前或滞后的情况.河南省作为一个经济相对落后但又快速发展的省份,二者是怎样的情形,是否有自身的特点.本文借助于统计方法,通过对河南省高等教育发展与经济互动的实证分析,得出河南省高等教育与经济基本协调发展,但省内各地市高等教育发展存在较大差异的结论,并对如何提高河南高等教育与经济的适应性和协调型发展提出策略.     

挤出还是挤入:外商直接投资对国内投资的效应

本文通过将聊引入投资模型,进行FDI对我国国内投资挤入或挤出效应的回归分析,结果表明,从当期效应看,全国FDI对总投资增加具有显著性的影响,但地区差异明显,东部和中部的FDI对总投资有显著性的正影响,而西部FDI的增加,具有减少总投资的效应;从长期效应看,就全国整体而言,FDI对国内投资具有挤入效应,但并不显著,东部以及西部的外商直接投资对国内投资有挤出效应,但并没有拒绝对临界水平1的虚拟假设,因而FDI对国内投资的这种挤出效应并不显著,而对于中部,FDI对国内投资具有很强的挤入效应.最后,基于研究结果,提出了相关建议.
