Brands are important in the consumer market. They are the interface between consumers and the company, and consumers may develop loyalty to brands. This study proposes that trust in a brand is important and is a key factor in the development of brand loyalty. Factors hypothesized to influence trust in a brand include a number of brand characteristics, company characteristics and consumer-brand characteristics. Respondents representing a broad spectrum of Singapore consumers were surveyed. The findings reveal that brand characteristics are relatively more important in their effects on a consumer's trust in a brand. The results also show that trust in a brand is positively related to brand loyalty. Marketers should, therefore, take careful consideration of brand factors in the development of trust in a brand. 相似文献
We investigate the disclosure of non-IFRS performance measures by 400 companies from eight countries using IFRS Standards (Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Singapore, Sweden and the United Kingdom) in the years 2005, 2008, 2011 and 2013 (1595 company-years). The incidence of disclosure is higher in UK and France but lower in Hong Kong, Germany and Singapore. Exclusions relating to impairment, tax, and mergers and acquisitions are frequent. Firms making non-IFRS disclosures are more likely to be larger, have higher leverage, and exhibit greater volatility in their reported income. Additional tests show national reporting traditions and practices affect non-IFRS disclosures. 相似文献
This study extends Dickinson's (2011) firm life cycle classification approach by linking it with the asset preferences and firm performance. This study also resolves the contention between agency theory and neo-classical theory. Based on the data of S&P 500 firms from 2000 to 2019, our results show: First, the effect of current assets on basic earnings per share (BEPS), return on assets (ROA) and Tobin's Q ratio (TQR) decreases from the introduction to decline stage. Second, the influence of fixed assets on TQR increases from the introduction to the declining stage. Our findings suggest that both theories are relevant, and asset acquisition influences the productivity and performance of the firms. 相似文献
Benartzi and Thaler [The Quarterly Journal of Economics 110 (1995) 73–92] offer a quasi-rational explanation for the equity premium puzzle. We reconsider their methodology and, making a simple modification to it, find that their analysis is not robust. 相似文献
During 2015–2016, the market has lowered its expectations on the pace and magnitude of U.S. interest rate lift-off, which should have reduced capital outflow and supported the ASEAN-5 financial markets. Yet, the ASEAN-5 financial markets have recorded mixed fortunes, possibly due to spikes in global risk (proxied by CBOE VIX index). Against the contrasting background of higher global risk and gradual interest rate lift-off, this paper investigates the impact of market expectations on U.S. interest rate on the ASEAN-5 financial markets. This paper concludes that both global risk and market expectations on interest rate lift-off affect the ASEAN-5 financial markets, whereby the negative effect of higher global risk dominates the positive effect of market expectations of gradual interest rate lift-off in the ASEAN-5 currencies and equity markets. However, it is the reverse in the ASEAN-5 sovereign bonds as the positive impact of market expectations of more gradual interest rate lift-off dominates the negative effect of higher global risk.
Selecting the right partner is important for the success of alliances and joint ventures. For international joint ventures
(IJVs) from diverse cultures the partner selection process can become complicated. Prior studies have investigated the alliances
and joint ventures to develop a set of objective criteria for evaluating potential partners. This paper reports the study
of IJVs formed by Singapore firms in Peoples Republic of China and India. The intent was to develop a methodology for identifying
partner selection criteria in a cross-cultural setting. The findings reveal that the partner selection process follows a different
logic in Confucian societies. Trust has been established to be essential for developing enduring co-operative relationships.
The paper explores the concept of trust in relation to commitment and control in the context of the Confucian culture. We
discover that trust is critical to partner selection. Cultural differences do not significantly alter the partner selection
criteria for Singapore firms. Results support the view that while Chinese may depend on networks for social solidarity, social
trust does extends beyond the family and is necessary for harmonious and successful joint ventures. 相似文献
There is every reason to celebrate the first anniversary of the Chinese yuan (CNY) trade settlement pilot scheme ('the scheme'). CNY settlement volumes have grown in leaps and bounds in recent months, albeit from a very low base. The scheme's scope was further expanded in June - it now includes 20 provinces, which together account For 95% of China's exports. 相似文献
This paper evaluates the changes in the exchange-rate policies of East Asian economies in the aftermath of the currency crisis and the process in which the exchange-market stability was re-established. The empirical analysis evaluates the changing roles of the yen and the US dollar in the currency baskets, the shifts in the volatility of the underlying macroeconomic fundamentals and their implications on exchange-rate management, the exchange-market perception of credibility and risk of the postcrisis exchange-rate regimes, and the process of reversion to fundamental values after the massive currency depreciation. The analysis shows that after the abandonment of the quasi-dollar peg, the yen had gained a greater weight in the currency baskets and the greater flexibility in which the exchange rates are being managed serve to accommodate the greater volatility in the macroeconomic fundamentals. The improvement in the macroeconomic conditions and the greater credibility that has been acquired by the regional monetary authorities had allowed the exchange market to stabilize and enabled the exchange rates to revert back to their fundamental values. 相似文献
From virtue ethics and interactionist perspectives, we hypothesized that personal justice norms (distributive and procedural
justice norms) were shaped directly and multiplicatively by ethical dispositions (equity sensitivity and need for structure)
and ethical climates (egoistic, benevolent, and principle climates). We collected multisource data from 123 companies in Hong
Kong, with personal factors assessed by participants’ self-reports and contextual factors by aggregations of their peers.
In general, LISREL analyses with latent product variables supported the direct and multiplicative relationships. Our findings
could lay the groundwork for justice research from a morality perspective in future. 相似文献
This paper briefly reviews the history of the Asia Academy of Management, the official sponsor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Management. It is suggested that establishing the Asia Academy of Management is a response to the new challenges of the academic institutional
environment, both in Asia and in the mainstream management research community. Judging from the achievements in terms of reputation
in the region, publication citations, school rankings, and internal organizational development, this new venture has added
significant value to the global academic community. The challenges facing the Asia Academy, however, include the need to attract
more interested parties to actively involve in its activities, more genuine cooperation among Asian and non-Asian institutions,
and a need to affirm the contributions of Asian management studies.
