Many studies have examined the factors that influence academic performance in primary and secondary education as well as at
university, with the purpose of enhancing learning at these stages and reducing drop-out rates. It is within this research
framework that we want to emphasise the deficient performance of students enrolled on the statistics course in the Faculty
of Psychology at the University of Barcelona. Consequently, this paper attempts to determine the factors that affect student
performance in this subject by undertaking an analysis of a structural equation model and determining its stability over time.
In order to accomplish our objective, we worked with two samples of students enrolled statistics classes. The first group
comprised 211 students enrolled in the academic year 2000–2001, while the second comprised 287 students enrolled in the academic
year 2001–2002. By administering a questionnaire, we obtained information concerning such variables as demographic data, previous
academic record, information related to the subject and the degree of satisfaction with it, and the final mark obtained by
the students in the subject. The parameters for each group of students were estimated separately and the goodness of fit of
the proposed structural model was assessed. The data analysis showed a good fit with both data bases, but the set of estimated

Translated versions of the Miner Sentence Completion Scale-Form T and of the Differential Attribution Questionnaire were administered to entrepreneurs and to managers, in Israel, Northern and Southern Italy and Sweden. The results of this research yield strong support for a framework that integrates affective and cognitive motivational factors. In particular, it found: (1) that the way entrepreneurs deal with negative outcomes explains their perseverance and affects their self-achievement; (2) a risk-avoidance rather than a risk-taking preference distinguishes them; (3) Self-Achievement; Risk-Avoidance and Personal Innovation appear to be major components of Task Motivation. This research appears to move closer toward a more parsimonious and clearer understanding of the behaviour of the central figure in wealth formation, thus providing a framework for the designing of entrepreneurial development programmes. 相似文献

Summary. We apply the dynamic stochastic framework proposed in recent evolutionary literature to a class of coordination games played
simultaneously by the entire population. In these games payoffs, and hence best replies, are determined by a summary statistic
of the population strategy profile. We demonstrate that with simultaneous play, the equilibrium selection depends crucially
on how best responses to the summary statistic remain piece-wise constant. In fact, all the strict Nash equilibria in the
underlying stage game can be made stochastically stable depending on how the best response mapping generates piece-wise constant

We study the recruitment behaviour of Swedish employers using data from a stated choice experiment. In the experiment, the employers are first asked to describe an employee who recently and voluntarily left the firm and then to choose between two hypothetical applicants to invite to a job interview or to hire as a replacement for their previous employee. The two applicants differ with respect to characteristics such as gender, age, education, work experience, ethnicity, religious beliefs, family situation, weight, and health, but otherwise have similar characteristics as the previous employee. Our results show that employers prefer not to recruit applicants who are old, non-European, Muslim, Jewish, obese, have several children, or have a history of sickness absence. We also calculate the reduction in wage costs needed to make employers indifferent between applicants with and without these characteristics, and find that wage costs would have to be reduced by up to 50 % for applicants with some characteristics. 相似文献
