The main purpose of licensing is to establish the accountability of a professional in an area. This study focus on the role of licensed engineers involved in aviation. The licensing of aircraft maintenance engineers is a mandatory requirement in the contracting states of the International Civil Aviation Organisation. This paper compares the licensing systems of various countries and looks at differences in the licensing standards that affect their acceptance by another contracting state. It looks at the degree to which non-safety considerations, such as protecting trade and generating additional fees, can affect these decisions. Although most contracting states follow International Civil Aviation Organisation standards for licensing, some dilution in relation to the privileges of aircraft maintenance license has been noticed in the European Aviation Safety Agency system. A discrete time approximation to the continuous time hyper-inflation model of Sargent and Wallace (1993) in which the authorities finance a given budget deficit by printing money appears to admit the possibility of chaotic solutions. In this paper we investigate the time series properties of daily observations on the Pound Reichsmark spot exchange rate in the inter-war hyper-inflation period. This study tests the hypothesis that hypothetical bias may not be related to value elicitation; rather it may be a value formation
problem. When participants are asked to indicate their willingness to pay for an induced value good, we find no evidence of
hypothetical bias for three different commodity types (public good, private good, and publicly provided private good). However,
when these same subjects are asked to value homegrown goods with no pre-assigned induced value using the same elicitation
mechanism, hypothetical values are roughly double actual payments in all three cases. These results support the hypothesis
that the process of forming values in a homegrown setting may be a key contributor to hypothetical bias. 相似文献

This paper examines the behaviour of the UK stock market for significant changes in volatility over the four years surrounding Big Bang i.e. 27 October, 1986 when the market was substantially deregulated. The main findings are that after Big Bang but prior to Black Monday, the UK stock market was no more volatile than prior to Big Bang, but that after Black Monday, the UK market was more volatile than prior to Big Bang even after adjusting for increases in global volatility. 相似文献

Democratising the governance of the IMF will significantly improve the institution's capacity to manage crises. The implementation of a democratic framework requires a reform of the Fund's ‘quota regime,’ which mediates the distribution of voting power. An optimal reform of the quota regime that reflects the increased weight of emerging economies requires matching the number of policy objectives with the number of policy instruments. Presently, there is a classic ‘assignment problem’ whereby one policy instrument (i.e., the quota regime) is aimed at achieving three objectives (i.e., member contribution obligations, access rights, and voting rights). Three different instruments need to be adopted. Member contributions should be based on member's capacity to pay; access to resources should be based on need; and voting rights should balance the rights of creditors with the principle of sovereign equality. These reforms will enhance the Fund's legitimacy and accountability as a forum for global economic policy‐making. 相似文献

During the past decade, developments such as the rapid growth of the Internet, digitization of information products, and digitization of the information attributes of non-information products, has necessitated businesses to fundamentally rethink, as well as institute major changes in, their marketing strategies. Against this backdrop, we present a critical assessment of extant research on marketing strategy in an Internet-enabled environment viewed through the lens of research published in previous volumes of the Journal of Interactive Marketing (JIM), and speculate on the future of interactive marketing in the contexts of marketing practice, research in marketing and marketing education. Looking back, it is evident that marketing strategy and marketing operations have been transformed by the Internet in many ways. Nowadays, developing economies are becoming the preferred destination of foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow. We draw insights from Dunning's eclectic paradigm to explore how FDI inflow is influenced by the quality of the physical infrastructure and human resources of the host country. We investigate various India‐specific infrastructural factors affecting FDI inflow between 1991 and 2010. Our empirical findings indicate that factors like railway transportation and road network as well as the quality of human resources played a crucial role in attracting FDI. However, air transportation or communication infrastructure is yet to play a significant role. Our study makes a modest attempt to identify areas of concern and scope for the further improvement of India's infrastructure facilities to attract foreign investment in the future. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献

As the aviation industries developed, so too did the recognition that there must be an effective regulatory framework to address issues related to the workers’ compensation and rehabilitation. All employees would like to work and return home safely from their workplace. Therefore, the efficient management of workplace injury and disease reduces the cost of aviation operations and improves flight safety. Workers’ compensation and injury management laws regulate a majority of rehabilitation and compensation issues, but achieving an injury-free workplace remains a major challenge for the regulators. This paper examines the clauses of the workers’ compensation and injury management laws of Western Australia related to workplace safety, compensation, and rehabilitations of the injured workers. Heterogeneity of buyers’ preferences has played a significant role in the earlier economic analyses of bundling and continues
to be important in the recent investigations initiated by marketing and consumer researchers. Guided by a decision-framing
conceptualization, this study suggests that in a market characterized by heterogeneous preferences for items included in a
bundle offer, buyers’ bundle evaluations may vary significantly depending on which item is featured as the price leader (i.e.,
the discounted item). When two unequally preferred items were evaluated for purchase as a set, bundle evaluation was more
enhanced when the price leader was also the more preferred item. Thus, under such preference conditions, bundle evaluation
may be quite sensitive to the choice of the price leader. Besides highlighting the importance of incorporating psychological
considerations in bundling research, the results of this study also raise questions about the validity of a key assumption
made in the extant analyses of bundling strategies. Specifically, perceived savings on one item may not always transfer readily
to other items included in a bundle offer.
He received his Ph.D. in marketing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. His research interests include
