Although the implementation of innovative organizational concepts is considered to be highly important for a company's competitiveness, so far there has been little research on possible approaches to measure and monitor organizational innovations in large-scale surveys. Based on an item-oriented typology of organizational innovations which serves as the precondition for a common understanding, we describe and compare how organizational innovations have been measured through existing surveys in Europe. Using a large-scale survey comprising data of 1450 German manufacturing companies, we show how these different approaches lead to significantly different results regarding the organizational innovativeness of companies within one and the same sample. We derive four implications for the future measurement and monitoring of organizational innovations. Our findings contribute to the further development of an adequate methodology for an organizational innovation monitoring system.  相似文献

Although corporate philanthropy is often viewed as a vehicle for fostering employee commitment, research suggests that it does not always accomplish this goal. Drawing on theories on prosocial sensemaking and on social identity theory, I propose that involving employees in corporate philanthropy encourages more benevolent attributions for philanthropy, thereby promoting higher attitudinal and behavioral commitment. In Study 1, a field study with employees and supervisors in a chemical‐pharmaceutical firm, employee involvement in corporate philanthropy predicted higher attitudinal and behavioral commitment to the firm. In Study 2, a laboratory experiment, participants reported higher attitudinal and behavioral commitment to a company when it was described as involving employees in philanthropy. In both studies, benevolent attributions mediated the associations of employee involvement in philanthropy with both attitudinal and behavioral commitment. My research provides new insights for understanding the impact of corporate philanthropy on a particularly important group of stakeholders—employees—and shows how employee involvement may encourage insiders to act to improve the organization's external image. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In shared frailty models for bivariate survival data the frailty is identifiable through the cross-ratio function (CRF), which provides a convenient measure of association for correlated survival variables. The CRF may be used to compare patterns of dependence across models and data sets. In this paper, we use a structural vector autoregressive model to study the effects of oil market developments on the German economy. We find that higher oil prices are always associated with a decline in private consumption expenditures, but the response of gross domestic product (GDP) crucially depends on the underlying shock. While a disruption in oil supply provokes a recession, positive world demand shocks prompt a temporary increase in exports and investment, which initially outweigh the cutback on consumption. In a counterfactual analysis, we show that the world demand shocks that led to the 2007/2008 oil price rise triggered a delayed 0.8 percent decrease in German GDP in 2009, and therefore notably contributed to the recession of that year.  相似文献

A plurality of new media technologies for everyday music listening have emerged alongside digitalization. For a lot of users in Germany, these new possibilities only complement the existing ones, resulting in complex trans-media usage patterns. For media scholars, this makes it increasingly difficult to derive an overall empirical picture of the dominant ways of everyday music use in Germany. Our study approaches these challenges with the help of the media repertoire approach (Hasebrink and Popp 2006) and develops a representative typology of everyday mediated music reception in Germany. Data from a nation-wide representative CATI survey on self-administered music reception in 2012 were analyzed with the help of Latent Class Analysis with Covariates (Collins and Lanza 2010). As a result, we could identify six ideal-typic audio repertoires from the obtained classes, which differ substantially in terms of types and intensity of audio devices used. Furthermore, a multinomial regression demonstrates class-memberships to be mainly determined by birth cohorts (50?%) and to a lesser degree by income, education and gender. We conclude with a mediatization-theoretic interpretation of the results based on the generation concept by Karl Mannheim (1928), which we intend to validate and deepen qualitatively and quantitatively through future follow-up studies.  相似文献
