The Effect of the Alternation in the Ruling Party on Three-Factor Risks and Returns in ETF: The Case of Presidential Elections in Taiwan

This study discusses the effect of alternation in the ruling party in presidential elections on three-factor risks and returns of the three main exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in Taiwan, which has an unclearly defined international status and whose citizens have the right to vote directly for the president. We find that after the ruling party has been determined, in the period between Election Day and inauguration day, both the stock market and ETFs show a slight rise in prices. This suggests that most investors are initially optimistic after the election results have been announced. Meanwhile, the reverse book-to-market risk value deteriorates significantly. These results indicate that political uncertainty increases the risk premium of market factors and reverse book-to-market factors for some ETFs.     

Understanding the motivation of museums,galleries and cultural exhibition visits – evidence from Taiwan internet use types

Are museums, galleries and cultural institutions (MGC) educational institutions or accommodations of leisure market? The aim of the present study is to understand why people visit MGCs through analysing a potential link between internet use types and MGC visits. Internet use is categorized into three types: independent activities, recreational activities and social activities. The empirical results indicate that internet use for recreational activities is negatively related to MGC visits, while internet use for independent activities is positively related to MGC visits. The findings suggest that MGCs are expected to provide visitors with educational experience rather than with social or recreational experience.     

财务重述与审计师变更——来自中国上市公司的经验证据

本文以2003--2011年我国主板上市公司为样本，从市场声誉和信号传递的角度，对上市公司财务重述与审计师变更问题予以分析和解答。本文研究结果显示，相比于非财务重述公司而言，财务重述公司更可能变更审计师，且变更概率与重述的严重程度显著正相关，此外，就变更审计师的公司而言，财务重述公司比非重述公司更可能从小所变更为大所或在平级所之间进行变更。在此研究基础上，本文提出相应的政策建议。     

物流分拣中破损快件的智能识别技术

鉴于传统智能识别方法无法解决分拣过程中货物破损区域不定、破损区域模糊、分拣耗时等问题,提出一种基于计算机视觉技术的破损快件智能识别模型,通过采用分割法,分割出图像变换差值,构建合理的快件特征表、目标破损特征区域表,并明确破损区域阀值,通过主元相似识别算法对不同类型的待识别快件进行破损识别。实验表明该模型具有较高的实时性和可靠性,能够及时准确地识别出不同类型的破损快件,极大地提高了物流分拣去除破损快件的自动化以及智能化。     

民间借贷的组织化效率：山东省首家市级民间融资登记服务中心案例

本文通过对山东省首家市级民间融资登记服务中心的分析后认为，由政府主导的俱乐部性质的组织化管理安排，能够制定有效的外部规则，实现政府与市场的合理互动。其成功的运作，能够提高自发、无序发展的小额民间资本融资对接效率，促进民间融资市场规范化、阳光化发展。在当前民间融资风险频发背景下，具有较强的现实指导意义。     

论中国法治进程中农民的平等权及其保障

平等权是我国公民的一项基本权利。作为公民的农民,应享有与其他社会主体平等的权利,但目前我国农民的经济权、教育权及财产权等方面的权利仍然得不到平等和应有的保障。农民权利的法律保障是法治建设不可回避的问题,因此,我们必须立足我国的客观实际,构建农民权利法律保障制度,采取切实措施促进和保障农民的平等权利。     

海西发展战略与固定资产投资需求分析

政府有关部门根据海峡西岸经济区发展战略制定了该区域近中远期的经济发展目标，以这些发展目标作为预测海西区域资金总需要的重要约束条件。利用变量的样本时间序列得出福建省全社会固定资产投资的预测模型，以2009年作为预测基期，得出纵向预测结果。同时，将其与先发地区进行横向比较，获得经验性的数据以对纵向预测结果进行修正，据此得出福建近中远期的全社会固定资产投资的预测值。     

The Strategy of foreign-invested manufacturing enterprises in China: Export-orientated and market-orientated FDI revisited

This paper examines export-orientated and market-orientated foreign direct investment (FDI) in China's manufacturing industry. Based on Fung's () survey estimation of China's market-orientated FDI in 1992 and China's Third National Industrial Census in 1995, we quantify the proportion of market-orientated FDI in China 1992–2002. By combining and verifying various data sources, our estimation shows that market-orientated FDI accounts for the majority of China's total inward FDI in manufacturing industry and has grown faster than export-orientated FDI over the period 1992–2002. Our industry level analysis suggests that Overseas Chinese investors are more export-orientated than Western investors. The study suggests that many inward investors follow a dual market strategy. The coexistence of export-orientated and Chinese domestic market-orientated FDI is a reflection of the flexibility of MNEs to adjust and adapt ownership attributes to the local market context. The study offers insights into the evolutionary development path taken by foreign-invested manufacturing enterprises in China.     

Better cross hedges with composite hedging? Hedging equity portfolios using financial and commodity futures

Unless a direct hedge is available, cross hedging must be used. In such circumstances portfolio theory implies that a composite hedge (the use of two or more hedging instruments to hedge a single spot position) will be beneficial. The study and use of composite hedging has been neglected; possibly because it requires the estimation of two or more hedge ratios. This paper demonstrates a statistically significant increase in out-of-sample effectiveness from the composite hedging of the Amex Oil Index using S&P500 and New York Mercantile Exchange crude oil futures. This conclusion is robust to the technique used to estimate the hedge ratios, and to allowance for transactions costs, dividends and the maturity of the futures contracts.
