开发红色经典资源 促进南宁科学发展

研究认为,南宁是个历史文化底蕴相当丰富的城市,只是尚未为人发现,或讲是尚未得到很好挖掘和利用。20世纪50年代,新中国的缔造者、中共中央主席毛泽东的活动曾经和南宁紧紧相连,在南宁大地上留下了其深深的足迹。追寻领袖的足迹,对这些重点历史文化资源遗存进行整合,将南宁闪光的历史部分集中系列地展现,不仅极大地提升南宁城市的历史文化品味,更能将由这些历史事件所蕴含的领袖思想与精神,为南宁学习实践科学发展观、推进科学发展、促进社会和谐注入无限动力。文章提出了一系列挖掘开发南宁红色和绿色资源、发展旅游产业、促进经济社会发展、建设和谐南宁的思路。     

The effects of R&D, venture capital, and technology on the underpricing of IPOs in Taiwan

Information asymmetry and value uncertainty causes high -research and development (R&D) or high-tech Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) to become underpriced. Venture capital can serve as a moderator to mitigate the information asymmetry and value uncertainty to reduce IPO underpricing. High-tech industries significantly contribute to Taiwan??s economic growth. With the unique Taiwan data, we find that venture-backed IPOs are less underpriced. More importantly, IPO underpricing due to technology decreases with the use of venture capital and decreases with the interaction between R&D expenditure and technology. Technology requirement reduces the underpricing of high-R&D IPOs. Accordingly, R&D spending reduces the underpricing of high-tech IPOs.     

把握自身资源禀赋的特色小镇规划方法探索——以中山港口镇游戏游艺文化特色小镇为例

面对全国特色小镇"大爆发"式发展,特色小镇的规划方法亟待总结。通过对港口镇游戏游艺文化特色小镇创建规划实践,提出把握自身资源禀赋的规划方法。研究认为特色小镇规划应首先"把握天时、顺应地利",确定适合宏观与微观资源禀赋的发展战略路径,支撑小镇业态转型升级和建立高品质产城融合社区;其次,应在规划编制过程中尊重民众意愿,获得"人和",为特色小镇的发展奠定稳定的内外环境基础,构建"区域-地块-人"三者融合的小镇发展生态圈。研究认为,不同于传统规划重点在物质空间布局,尊重小镇"生命体"发展规律制定永续发展策略,才是特色小镇规划必须坚持的方向。     

Does engagement in corporate social responsibility provide strategic insurance‐like effects?

Research summary : This study examines whether the stock and bond prices of firms engaging in corporate social responsibility (CSR) can benefit from insurance‐like effects during occurrences of negative events. Our results suggest that in the face of negative events, engagement in CSR on a continuous, long‐term basis provides insurance‐like effects on both the stock and bond prices of firms. Nevertheless, the effects are found to quickly disappear following the occurrence of a second, or subsequent, negative event. Although our results clearly indicate that firms need to allocate some of their available resources to long‐term strategic CSR activities, managers must also realize that in a crisis communication, they will probably be able to use their CSR claims on one occasion only. Managerial summary : The purpose of this article is to examine whether firms engaging in corporate social responsibility (CSR) can benefit from insurance‐like effects during occurrences of negative events. We find that on the occurrence of a negative event, long‐term CSR engagement does have insurance‐like effects. We also find that these insurance‐like effects may quickly disappear following the occurrence of a second negative event. Managers of firms with a long history of CSR activities need to realize that in a crisis communication, they can probably use their claims of adherence to CSR only once. Internationalization and Auditor Choice

Prior research shows that internationalization increases information asymmetry and conflicts of interest between managers and outside investors, which lead to greater agency problems. Agency theory predicts a demand for higher quality auditors when agency problems are more severe. This study investigates whether the extent of internationalization influences auditor choice and whether audit quality has performance implications for internationalization. Using a set of U.S. firms from 2003 to 2009, we find the extent of internationalization positively related to audit quality. Furthermore, higher quality audits positively moderate the relation between internationalization and firm performance. Taken together, these results suggest that higher quality audit mitigates the agency problem associated with internationalization.

The Behaviour of Real Exchange Rates: The Case of Japan

This study examines the convergence rate of mean reversion by estimating the half‐lives of sectoral real exchange rates using an extensive product price panel for Japan (with the USA as the numéraire). We find that the half‐lives of sectoral real exchange rates are remarkably distorted when the grouped half‐life is measured inappropriately and the cross‐sectional dependence and potential trend breaks are ignored. After taking account of these problems, the bias‐corrected half‐life for all goods is as low as 3.00 years, close to the bottom of the consensus view of 3 to 5 years. Moreover, the bias‐corrected half‐life of mean reversion is 2.40 years for traded goods, and only approximately half that for non‐traded goods. Finally, our findings also support the view that small‐sample bias correction is critical for half‐life estimations.
