A multivariate analysis identified six predictors to explain positive work–life balance (WLB) among 1,566 teleworkers. Time flexibility variables were found to be most dominant. Gender or having dependent children was not significant. These results demonstrated that controlling working hours was the most important ability for sampled teleworkers to achieve positive WLB.  相似文献

We present results from an artefactual field experiment conducted in rural Peru that considers whether observing non-reciprocal behavior influences an individual's decision to reciprocate. Specifically, we consider the behavior of second movers in a trust game, assessing whether their decision to reciprocate is influenced by the observed reciprocity of others. In documenting the impact of an external shock to observed reciprocity, this paper shows that small increases in non-reciprocal behavior result in an unraveling of the norm of reciprocity. Survey data is used to explore mechanisms by which this occurred. Results are not consistent with learning effects, suggesting that preferences may be changed by observing others deviating from a norm of reciprocity. These results suggest that investing in encouraging trustworthy behavior can have large benefits in situations where individuals are observing each other's behavior, such as may be the case in a new market institution.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper sheds light on the preferences and behaviour of Vietnamese consumers in an emerging market economy. We analysed survey data of affluent consumers in Hanoi by using a binary choice Probit model for traditional bazaars versus supermarkets. The purpose of the analysis was to measure the factors which influence decision-making by consumers when selecting particular retail outlets for shopping. Our results show that freshness, price and convenience are important in shaping the choice by consumers for traditional outlets for fresh food, while price played a key role in selecting shopping outlets for processed food and drinks and non-food products. The results provide a basis for understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the old and the new retail outlet formats.  相似文献

This paper examines misconfidence (over‐ or underconfidence) and marriage proposal strategies in a two‐sided search model with non‐transferable utility. Single agents are vertically heterogeneous—there exists a ranking of marital charm (types). It is shown that there are two externalities to over‐ or underconfident behaviour: someone's over‐ or underconfidence affects: (i) the duration of search for others who directly meet over‐ or underconfident agents; and (ii) the marriage decision of others who directly or indirectly meet over‐ or underconfident agents. Furthermore, these externalities prevent the lowest‐type agents from marrying in an equilibrium.  相似文献

The strength of the mindscape analysis lies in its usefulness in dealing with specific situations which generalized theories do not differentiate adequately. Examples with specificity are discussed. We are facing an internationally uneven dzdrzbutzon of excess and shortage of engineers, professionals and rnultzculturally experzenced managers, resulting zn acute problems for head-hunting, in-house trumzng and staff retentzon. Excellent trained engineers may deteriorate in outmoded jactories in some countries. Matching between corporate culture and host county culture is crucial. The management of product invention, development and adaptation (PIDA) is as important as technology transfer, although some PIDA principles are not culturally transferrable. This article discusses three principles which are applicable in a variety of cultural contexts-experience looping, design looping and concept crossing. The firm which can successfully incorporate such principles into its PIDA planning, particularly in overseas operations, is likely to improve market share.  相似文献
