A model of the G-3 is introduced which has a transparent structure including a simple but analytically tractable supply side. New optimising techniques are used to conduct extensive policy experiments on this multicountry model (including full Nash solutions and a fully cooperative solution). In the case of a fiscal shock originating in theUS, we find evidence of significant spillovers to other countries, which can only be ameliorated in the fully cooperative regime.  相似文献

This paper presents some empirical evidence on the factors determining changes in wage differentials between skilled and unskilled workers and in their employment. An ``analysis of variance' (ANOVA) model is estimated using UN data for five OECD countries in order to assess the relative importance of industry-specific, country-specific and international shocks (as well as interactions between industry and country effects). It is found that both international shocks and national policies affect wage differentials over the whole sample, whilst skill-biased technical change (SBTC) was a significant factor in the seventies. Employment responds mainly to international shocks, although national policies and SBTC were important determinants in the seventies and eighties respectively. Some of the results are found to be sensitive to the technology level of the industries considered.  相似文献

The purpose of the paper is to show why the assumption of a non-self-replacing state in Sraffa’s system, with single-product industries and circulating capital, could jeopardize the role of production prices in making the reproduction of the system possible. As a result, this assumption is not a merely simplifying, but rather a ‘characterizing’ assumption, in so much as it changes in some fundamental respect the main results of the analysis. Specifically, unless self-replacement is assumed, the laws of returns (and therefore quantity-considerations) cannot be ignored.  相似文献

Inward investment by multinational companies represents a vital channel for entrenching the company‐level industrial relations dimension of Europe's social model in the post‐socialist New Member States. Surveying a wide range of existing analysis and evidence, this article concludes that the prospects for diffusion through inward investment are highly contingent. The motive for inward investment, factor composition, host country institutions and the existence of transnational industrial relations structures are all found to be influential contingencies, but not country‐of‐origin or mode of entry.  相似文献
