OPEC's Response to International Climate Agreements 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
This paper studies a game between a group of countries that have agreed to participate in an international climate agreement (the signatories) and OPEC. The purpose of the signatories is to design carbon taxes that maximize their total net income, given a goal on global carbon emissions. As a response to the climate agreement, OPEC imposes an oil tax on its member states that maximizes OPEC's profits. Within a numerical model we find the subgame-perfect equilibrium of a game in which each player chooses when to fix his decision variables. It is shown that in equilibrium the group of signatories chooses to be the leader and OPEC chooses to be the follower. It is demonstrated, however, that for both agents the order of move is of minor (numerical) importance. Hence, the players have limited incentives for strategic behaviour. 相似文献

When the American Association of Colleges of Nursing introduced the Clinical Nurse Leader"s (CNL) pilot project in 2004, it was the first time in more than 40 years that an attempt was made to introduce a new role to the profession. This new role was designed to address many challenges related to patient care in the current health care delivery system including a need for more effective clinical problem solving, better coordination at the point of care, stronger interdisciplinary relationships, and more rapid implementation of evidenced-based practice findings at the patient-provider interface. Critics from both academic and practice settings have questioned the need and wisdom of introducing a new role to the profession at this time. The factors that led some nursing leaders in early stages of this project to be proactive and involve their organizations as early adopters of the CNL role were examined in this study. Five major factors were identified from the research to form a framework designed to explain organizational participation: organizational needs, a desire to improve patient care, an opportunity to redesign care delivery, the promotion of the professional development of nursing staff, and the potential to enhance physician-nurse relationships. The ability of academic and service partners to forge the types of relationships and promote best practices as is occurring in the CNL project may be a critical success factor in confronting the current and impending nursing shortage. 相似文献

Based on empirical studies of firm exchange activities in business markets, this paper outlines a business network view of
the firm-market relationship, which differs fundamentally from the view assumed by neo-classical economic theory. We define
business networks as sets of connected business relationships. Thus business relationships and connections between relationships
are the critical elements in the business network view. It is assumed, as suggested by the Uppsala internationalization process
model, that an interplay between knowledge and commitment development is the mechanism that drives the relationship and network
development process. Against this background the paper discusses how strategic change is analyzed in literature on alliances

Modern policy-makers have learned little from the Great Depression and the policy responses of the 1930s. Yet, there is a great deal to learn from the New Deal: quelling the fear and uncertainty of mass unemployment in the pragmatic, experimental process through which the tool for achieving this objective—directed government expenditure—was accepted, even though the New Deal’s public works policies and direct provision of paid employment, rather than being informed by a Keynesian theory of macroeconomic stabilization, were designed to support morale, provide relief from the suffering and uncertainty of unemployment, and serve as a bulwark against more interventionist alternatives. Countering the deep uncertainty in the real sector of the economy thus collided with Roosevelt’s commitment to rein in fiscal deficits, and the resolution of this internal conflict in favor of support for employment and incomes provides the essential, largely ignored lesson of the 1930s. 相似文献

In this paper we propose a model that explains how cooperation can emerge spontaneously between firms in a highly competitive market environment. The basic idea is that the more competitive is the market, the less costly it is for firms to help each other like good neighbors. Cooperation takes the form of sharing technical know-how, which speeds up the adoption of new technologies (normally developed elsewhere) that spur industrial development. The model comports with the development history of Japan's first example of successful industrial development – its cotton spinning industry – whose conditions match those of firms in small open economies today. 相似文献

This paper investigates the existence of markups and their cyclical behaviour at the industry sector level. Markups are given
as a price-cost relation that is estimated from a dynamic, structural model of the firm. The firms face costly adjustment
of labour and potential financial constraints. The model is tested on a panel of firm- and plant-level data from Norwegian
manufacturing industries. The results indicate a frequent presence of moderate pro-cyclical markups. Labour adjustment costs
are present in four out of seven sectors but small in magnitude. The results are related to the role played by unions in a

This article, based on a postal survey and qualitative interview‐based research, examines the relationship between major private recruitment bureaux and their clients in the UK, with particular attention to the recruitment and selection of temporary workers. The private recruitment industry is growing and large bureaux are seeking closer partnership arrangements with clients. Contracts for labour services are being developed on a 'preferred' supplier basis – similar in type to the approach taken for the purchase or supply of goods or components. However, formal preferred supplier contracts with temporary work bureaux were used by only a minority of clients, usually larger organisations or those having projects or workplaces with high volume demand. While such bureaux seek models of relational contracting or partnering, many clients prefer less fully engaged or 'semi‐distanced' relations facilitated by the informal dimensions of inter‐organisational contacts. 相似文献
