社会保障缴费与财政投入的对策研究

构建和谐社会是未来相当长一段时期内我国社会主义现代化建设的基本目标，社会保障以其所具备的特殊的社会功能而对这一目标的实现起着特殊的作用。因此，社会保障制度中存在的一些不合理问题亟待改善。本文以我国国有企业为例，对国有企业的社会保障缴费能力、其职工的缴费能力及我国财政负担能力进行了实证分析，在得出相关结论的基础上，提出了四点建议：1．减轻企业的社会保障缴费负担；2．加大职工个人社会保障缴费率；3．加大财政对于社会保障的投入；4．加快社会保障立法步伐，促使社会保障制度尽快定型。     

The impact of diversification strategy on risk-return performance

This study examines the impact of diversification strategy on risk and return in diversified firms. Following an assessment of previous research on strategic risk, relationships between risk, return, and diversification strategy are hypothesized. Regression analysis shows that differences in risk-return performance among diversified firms are more closely associated with structural factors associated with markets and businesses than with the particular diversification strategy chosen. Returns also influence the choice of diversification strategles which, in turn, do not get rewarded with higher profits. A curvilinear risk-return relationship is also observed which is consistent with previous theoretical suggestions. Implications for the strategic management of risk are then drawn.

Equity Ownership and Firm Value: Evidence from Targeted Stock Repurchases

In contrast to the negative average abnormal return associated with the announcement of a control‐related targeted repurchase (greenmail transaction), we find that the announcement of a noncontrol‐related targeted repurchase is associated with a positive and significant average abnormal return. Cross‐sectional analysis indicates that the change in firm value at the announcement of a noncontrol‐related targeted repurchase is negatively related to the resulting changes in both insider ownership and outside blockholdings. We also find significant differences in announcement‐period stock price effects depending on the identity of the selling shareholder.     

Building consumer–brand relationship: A cross‐cultural experiential view

This research aims to develop a framework of consumer–brand relationship by taking an experiential view. In this article, the authors report a cross‐cultural comparative study that was conducted on a sample of real consumers at coffee chain stores in Shanghai, China, and Taipei, Taiwan. The findings reveal that individual as well as shared experiences work through brand association, brand personality, brand attitude, and brand image to shape a consumer–brand relationship. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.     

Why are postwar cycles smoother? Impulses or propagation?

This paper asks whether the remarkable decrease in business-cycle variability after the end of World War II has been the result of a more stable structure (the propagation mechanism) or less volatile shocks (the impulses). Using data from the pre-World War I, interwar, and post-World War II periods, for the US, Australia, Italy, Sweden, and the UK, our evidence suggests that the reduced volatility is mostly the result of calmer shocks, and less the consequence of a more stable structure. In the US, for example, we calculate that milder shocks have been responsible for around 80% of the reduction in output variability between interwar and postwar periods, while a more stable structure is responsible for the remaining 20%.
