Cooperative marketing in the accommodation subsector: Southeastern Mediterranean perspectives

This article examines the concept of cooperative marketing and reviews the wider range of elements that constitute cooperative marketing. Subsequently, the article considers its potential for small‐ and medium‐sized hotels (SMHs) in Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey, and suggests strategies that might stimulate such cooperation. Finally, the article concludes with the implications of cooperative marketing for tourism destinations in general. It is expected that this analysis will help to explore the possibilities of cooperative marketing in the hotel subsector within the limits of the local economies, as well as offering lessons for other countries in the Mediterranean region. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

Learning, Teamwork and Appropriability: Managing Technological Change in the Department of Social Security

Drawing on an extensive case study, we argue that management has to actively manage information flows, both within the organization and between the organization and its environment. Three tasks of knowledge management are, in our view, important in building technological capability: appropriation, teamworking and learning. 'Appropriation' includes the retention and effective utilization of internal knowledge. 'Teamworking' refers to the integration of diverse knowledge bases. 'Learning' embraces the acquisition and exploitation of externally held knowledge     

Eliteuniversitäten — Gewinner im Wettbewerb um Studierende?

The German Excellence Initiative was intended to strengthen university-based research and to create a set of internationally competitive elite institutions. The present article analyses whether or not designation as an elite institution has had an impact on the number of first-year students. Our results indicate that this is not the case. This observation might be explained by the fact that the Excellence Initiative mainly focuses on the reputation of the university as a whole, while students are more interested in the reputation of their preferred field of study. Hence, students compare the quality of faculties or degree programmes rather than the reputation of universities.     

WTO成立以来全球反倾销调查发起趋势之演变

世贸组织成立以后,反倾销成为其保护国内产业的合法措施予以保留。本文对世贸组织成立11年来反倾销整体的发展趋势进行了宏观分析。特别重点关注全球贸易和反倾销领域中的典型代表美国、欧盟、印度．分析了这三个国家和地区反倾销的态势。在此基础上,对于中国发起反倾销调查的趋势,以及在全球反倾销调查的发起中应遵循的立场进行了讨论。     

中国与巴西双边贸易的竞争性与互补性研究

作为两大新兴经济体,中国和巴西双边贸易的发展对世界市场的发展具有不容忽视的影响。本文在描述中巴双边贸易发展现状的基础上,通过出口产品相似度、双边贸易结合度以及产业内贸易指数、显示性比较优势指数等指标,对中巴双边贸易的竞争性和互补性进行了分析。结果显示,中巴贸易结构差异明显,双边贸易结构具有较强的互补性。在进一步扩大贸易规模的同时,中巴双方可在农业领域、资源领域以及基础设施领域等双方的供需结合点提高投资与贸易合作。     

制度约束、外商投资与产业结构升级调整——基于省际面板数据的实证研究

本文基于空间经济学,从制度约束的视角对FDI影响产业结构调整的机制进行了系统梳理,并应用1985-2004年省际面板数据,采用双向固定效应模型对FDI与产业结构调整的关系进行了实证检验。结果发现:FDI增加有助于提升第三产业在经济中的比重,降低第二产业比重,总体上有利于产业结构优化升级,并且FDI的产业结构调整效应呈边际递减规律(倒U型走势)。产生这种效应与FDI的资本供给、技术进步、收入漏出效应有关,也与中国金融偏向政策等制度约束有关。政府应继续积极合理有效地引进外资并加强产业引导,同时着力改善制度环境。     

新世纪以来我国FDI外溢效应的俱乐部特征

本文测算了2001-2008年间我国大陆各省区的全要素生产率,进而利用面板门槛模型,以人均GDP为门槛变量,实证检验了FDI与TFP的非线性关系。研究发现,2001-2008年间,我国TFP整体呈上升态势,但TFP水平和增速在地区间不平衡的现象比较突出。FDI的外溢效应呈现俱乐部特征:在经济发达地区,FDI会产生正向的溢出效应,而在欠发达地区FDI则不会产生正向的外溢效应。     

Trauma epidemiology and outcome in a developing country: perspectives from a university teaching hospital in Beirut

This study aims at evaluating trauma care at the American University of Beirut Medical Centre (AUB-MC) and comparing it to the norms established by the Major Trauma Outcome Study (MTOS). From January 2001 until January 2003, data necessary to calculate probability of survival using the Trauma Injury Severity Score methodology were collected. M, W, Z, Ws and Zs statistics were calculated to compare outcome at AUB-MC to the MTOS dataset. A total of 873 patients were included in the study. W statistics was calculated at 0.35 with Z score for the overall sample of 0.081 indicating that there was no statistically significant difference in survival between this group and the MTOS group. In a developing country a hospital achieves trauma outcomes similar to the MTOS dataset. Further studies looking at trauma care in Lebanon as a whole are needed.     

一种基于小波分解的直扩信号检测方法

针对直接序列扩频（DSSS）信号检测的问题，提出了一种对接收信号时域自相关进行小波分解的方法。该方法对于进行了载波调制的直扩信号，其所在频带未知时无法设计前置滤渡器，从而造成检测性能下降的情况，给出了一种可行的解决方案。计算机模拟表明，在该情况下，本方法具有较好的检测性能。     

磁浮列车无线通信系统中空间分集合并模块的设计与实现

分析了国产磁浮列车车地无线通信系统的信道特性及接收分集合并方案，给出了基于改进型选择性分集合并模块的设计和硬件实现。系统联试现场数据表明，该模块能有效改善系统的传输性能。
