This study investigates the effect of virtual atmospheric cues on emotions and word-of-mouth and also analyzes the differences between the perceptions of male and female participants relative to the online environment. Questionnaires were given to students in higher education and senior university students. The main findings suggest that pleasure is the most effective emotion to lead to a positive word-of-mouth for both genders. Women are more willing to say positive words to others than men. Women are also more influenced by the delight and pleasure, whereas men are influenced only by pleasure. 相似文献

Sensory enabling technology (SET) can deliver product information that is similar to the information obtained from direct product examination, thus reducing product risk. In addition, the interactivity and customer involvement created by sensory enabling technologies can enhance the entertainment value of the online shopping experience. The proposed model examined this dual role of sensory experience enablers in the online soft goods shopping process for three types of sensory enabling technologies that are widely applied in online retail sites. The results provided empirical support for perceived usefulness and perceived entertainment value as strong predictors of consumers' attitudes toward using all three of the sensory enabling technologies tested in this study. The impact of perceived ease of use differed by technology. Attitudes toward using sensory enabling technologies had a significant impact on the actual use of all three SETs; however, the impact of technology anxiety and innovativeness on the use of SET also appeared to differ by technology. Virtual try‐on played a strong hedonic role, increasing the entertainment value of the online shopping process, whereas 2D views (larger view and alternate views) showed a strong functional role. The 3D rotation view served both functional and hedonic roles. The results indicate that each sensory enabling technology makes a unique contribution to online shopping—either by reducing product risk perceptions or by increasing perceived entertainment value. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献

Unless "family-friendly" policies are developed, women will continue to leave public accounting in larger numbers than men. Affirmative action, family leave, and child care policies in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. are compared. The greater strength and duration of U.S. affirmative action policy may partially explain the superior progress of women in the labor force as compared to the other nations. In contrast, maternity leave and child care policies in Australia and Canada surpass those in the U.K. and the U.S. The weaker government provisions for family leave and child care in the latter two nations increase the importance of policies in the private sector for persons attempting to balance employment and family commitment. 相似文献

The doctor-patient relationship has been the main focus of principal-agent theory in health care. This paper focuses on communication between doctors and patients within the doctor-patient relationship as a method by which the utility of the principal (patient) can be maximised. Patients' preferences for various attributes of the doctor‐patient relationship are examined using a discrete choice experiment. Individuals were presented with pairs of hypothetical scenarios describing GP visits that differed depending on the attributes of the doctor-patient relationship. In the time-constrained GP consultation, the results show that being able to talk to the doctor is the most important attribute, followed by patients' understanding of the doctor's explanations, waiting time for an appointment, and the amount of information transferred to the patient. Quality of information is more important than its quantity. The extent to which patients were involved in decision making had no influence on the choice of visit, although it was important to patients who were relatively young and female. Policies aimed at involving patients in decision making should be targeted at specific groups of patients only. The results have implications for the training of doctors in communication skills as a response to market failure caused by asymmetry of information. 相似文献

Plagiarism in accounting case assignments is a serious problem that undercuts the important objectives the case assignments are used to achieve: the development of students’ critical thinking skills and the advancement of their written communication skills. This paper examines plagiarism behavior through the lens of fraud theory by targeting two elements of the fraud triangle: rationalization and opportunity. Efforts to target rationalization by changing student perceptions of peer behavior were not effective. This led to a shift in focus to the assignment itself which was providing the opportunity for misconduct. Students were sidestepping authentic engagement in the assignment by gaining access to published solutions or peer submissions from previous semesters. One failsafe design response to this problem is to use only originally written cases. However, writing a large number of original cases each semester is unrealistic within many instructors’ workloads. This article instead proposes the use of a case refreshing strategy that makes cases appear unique to each group of students. When this strategy was introduced in an intermediate accounting course, there was a dramatic decrease in plagiarism and a corresponding improvement of the academic integrity environment in the course. 相似文献
