In manufacturing industries, product inspection is automated and the use of image data is increasingly being employed for defect detection. A manufacturing company in Japan produces an item and inspects the produced products using image data. Reducing the error rate is important in product inspection because poor inspection of products might lead to the delivery of defective products to consumers (consumer’s risk) and strict inspection increases production cost (producer’s risk). To reduce the error rate, we highlighted fault points using a two-dimensional moving range filter and discriminated defect production through a unanimous vote among Mahalanobis classifiers for each color component. For results, we achieved a lower error rate than the current system. This research is an empirical study of how to use image data in defect detection. 相似文献

An increase of broadband demand is forecasted by transitional methods that consider the effect of this increase through many

This study uses the Malmquist index with bias correction to analyze the performance of hotel chains from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman. We show that Saudi Arabia hotel chains have the highest productivity growth, followed by the UAE and Omani hotel chains. A further decomposition of productivity indicates that a small number of hotel chains experienced an increase in revenues for lower occupancy rate, while most other hotel chains experienced an increase in occupancy rate for lower revenues. The objective in this paper is to investigate systematically the existence and nature of interactions among the decisions for gross investment, capital scrappage, and maintenance expenditures. For this purpose, a three-equation model is proposed and implemented econometrically, using data from the locomotives and freight cars of the Class-I railways in the United States during the period 1944–1970. The results obtained suggest that, for the assets studied, the aforementioned decisions exhibit substantial interactions that arc in accord with most a priori considerations. The structural estimates of the model, for example, show that, among other things: (a) gross investment is related positively to scrappage and maintenance expenditures of both locomotives and freight cars are associated inversely, and (c) maintenance expenditures are also significantly influenced by either current or lagged gross investment. 相似文献

Pigou's proposition that the use of distorting taxes rather than neutral head taxes reduces public service levels is examined in this paper. A simple model with a national system of competing local governments is utilized to demonstrate that the use of a distorting property tax on mobile capital decreases the level of residential public services.
