This article reviews various experiences with stabilization.It first examines stabilization programs in the context of hyperinflationlookingat the experiences of Austria and Germany in the early 1920sand Bolivia in 1985and then reviews and interprets theresults of orthodox stabilization plans (applied in Argentina,Chile, and Uruguay during the mid-1970s and early 1980s) andthose of heterodox programs (the austral plan in Argentina andthe cruzado plan in Brazil, with a glance at the Mexican andIsraeli experiences). An algorithm that can tackle time dependent vehicle routing problems with hard or soft time windows without any alteration in its structure is presented. Analytical and experimental results indicate that average computational time increases proportionally to the number of customers squared. New replicable test problems that capture the typical speed variations of congested urban settings are proposed. Solution quality, time window perturbations, and computational time results are discussed as well as a method to study the impact of perturbations by problem type. Subjective culture is a group's characteristic way of perceiving its social environment. This study analyzes cultural meanings through free verbal association derived from the Associative Group Analysis technique. More than one hundred important and relevant stimulus words were identified. Respondents were asked to list all the ideas associated with each stimulus word. The purpose is to find out the differences and similarities in the subjective meaning of selected words among American, Hong Kong and PRC Chinese. The research results provide empirical data on the understanding of culture-specific meanings of words. It is cultural experience that produces the unique distribution of association in a particular word. The spontaneously emerging response clusters offer deep insights into what is salient and what is dominant in the group's subjective meanings of selected themes.The authors are from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. 相似文献

Why do firms in some industries exhibit very similar debt ratios, while firms in other industries do not? This paper examines the dispersion in leverage ratios among firms within an industry, and relates this dispersion to industry characteristics. We find that more concentrated industries and industries where the use of leasing is more intense exhibit greater intra‐industry dispersion. We also document greater dispersion in industries where firms use less incentive compensation, sit more insiders in their boards, are older, and have larger capital expenditures in relation to their assets. 相似文献

Presented is an approach to classify a brand’s buyers into groups with varying degrees of loyalty along a continuum from “hard-core
loyal” to “hard-core switcher.” A taxonomy is developed based on the joint use of stated consideration set and brand-switching
data. In an empirical application to the automobile industry, classic stochastic models such as Grover-Srinivasan (J Mark
Res 24:139–153, 1987) and Colombo-Morrison (Mark Sci 8(1):89–99, 1989), which attempt to recover the heterogeneity existing
in the switching matrix overstate the number of hard-core loyals (buyers who repurchase with probability one) by 48% and 67%,
respectively. The proposed taxonomy illuminates the sources of the overestimation and provides insights into the brand health
of competing automotive makes.

ABSTRACTThis exploratory paper analyses the way in which context influences advertising creativity practices. To establish the role of context, this paper utilized both Social Identity theory and Systems Model of Creativity. Twenty four in-depth interviews with top creative directors of the main advertising agencies in Colombia (Latin America) were collected. Findings suggest the Colombian creative identity is under construction. This identity is influenced by the broader Colombian social context including the unique business characteristics of the country's communications industry, the level of economic hardship experienced by the population, and the actual social conflict lived situation. These findings extend the Systems Model of Creativity to include social hardships and industry level characteristics. We deal with a multivariate conditional value at risk. Compared with the usual notion for the single random variable, a multivariate value at risk is concerned with several variables, and thus, the relation between each risk factor should be considered. We here introduce a new definition of copula-based conditional value at risk, which is real valued and ready to be computed. Copulas are known to provide a flexible method for handling a possible nonlinear structure; therefore, copulas may be naturally involved in the theory of value at risk. We derive a formula of our copula-based conditional value at risk in the case of Archimedean copulas, whose effectiveness is shown by examples. Numerical studies are also carried out with real data, which can be verified with analytical results. 相似文献
