In this paper we re-examine the link between subjective perceptions and objective measures of wage discrimination by estimating
the mean and several quantiles in the conditional wage distribution of men and women in order to decompose the gender wage
gap into the part attributed to different characteristics and the part attributable to differential returns to these characteristics
at points other than the conditional expectation. In the process we take into account the endogeneity of educational choice
and the participation decision of women. The results suggest that the absolute wage gap and the component of the latter that
can be attributed to different returns to characteristics increase over the wage scale. 相似文献
Background: In 2011 the first payment-by-results (PbR) scheme in Catalonia was signed between the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), the Catalan Health Service, and AstraZeneca (AZ) for the introduction of gefitinib in the treatment of advanced EGFR-mutation positive non-small-cell lung cancer. The PbR scheme includes two evaluation points: at week 8, responses, stabilization and progression were evaluated, and at week 16 stabilization was confirmed. AZ was to reimburse the total treatment cost of patients that failed treatment, defined as progression at weeks 8 or 16.
Objective: To estimate the financial consequences of this PbR reimbursement model and determine the perception of the stakeholders involved in the agreement.
Methods: Differential drug costs between two scenarios, with and without the PbR, were calculated. A qualitative investigation of the organizational elements was performed by interviewing the parties involved in the agreement.
Results: Forty-one patients were included from June 2011 to October 2013 and assessed at two evaluation points. Clinical results were comparable to those observed in the pivotal studies of gefitinib. The difference in the cost of gefitinib using the PbR compared to the traditional purchasing scenario was 6.17% less at 8 weeks, 11.18% at 16 weeks and 4.15% less for the overall treatment. The PbR resulted in total savings of around €36,000 (€880 per patient). From an operational and organizational perspective, the availability of adequate data systems to measure outcomes and monitor accountability and the involvement of healthcare professionals were acknowledged as crucial.
Conclusions: Tangible and intangible benefits were identified with respect to the interests of the parties involved. This has led to the incorporation of innovation for patients under acceptable conditions. 相似文献
There exist congenital diseases that reduce newborns’ potential opportunities. This reduction is sometimes alleviated if the congenital disease is detected early by a newborn screening program. We propose a new outcome measurement procedure for newborn screening programs, based on the opportunity gains they offer. We show that, under plausible assumptions, the ranking of the available screening programs for a particular disease, according to this new outcome measurement procedure, does not depend on the metric of opportunity. We also apply our model to the current debate about choosing between a selective or a universal newborn hearing screening program to detect congenital hearing impairments. 相似文献
This article analyses the importance of training as a creator of human capital, which enables a company to obtain competitive
advantages that are sustainable in the long-term that result in greater profitability. The study is based on the general theoretical
framework of resource and capacity theory. The study not only analyses the impact of the influence of training on performance;
it also attempts to analyse the nature of such a relationship in greater depth. This being the case, an attempt has been made
to measure explanatory capacity from two different perspectives: the universalistic approach and the contingent approach.
At the outset, two hypotheses are formulated that attempt to quantify the relationship from a universalistic perspective to
later, in two more hypotheses, incorporate the potential moderating effect of the strategy into the model, in order to verify
whether or not this strategy improves the explanatory power of our model of analysis.
This paper investigates the relationship between flexible human resource (HR) practices and innovativeness. Testing the research model in a sample of first‐tier automotive suppliers indicates that internal flexibility practices are positively related to innovativeness. Regarding external flexibility, the association depends on the type of contingent employee: negative association for ‘short‐term hires’ and positive association for ‘consulting/contracting firms’. The relationships to innovativeness for practices associated with knowledge transfer are moderated by environmental dynamism, but the non‐knowledge related practices are not. Firms in highly dynamic environments can benefit more from flexible HR practices than firms in less dynamic environments. 相似文献
Rapid industrialisation in Asia is generating a significant new demand for raw materials and pressure on local, regional and global environments. In the future these demands and pressures are expected to increase markedly. These concerns are models of development that assume that economic growth follows a pattern leading to a convergence between the structure, growth and productivity of economies over the long run. In these models, the structure of industries and sectors, technological capabilities and consumer preferences are regarded as converging towards patterns established in more advanced economies. By extension, convergence is also assumed to hold for the resource intensity and environmental pressure associated with growth in industrialising countries. This paper argues for greater attention to the resource and environmental quality of development. It argues that by applying ideas from an emerging literature on ‘systems innovation’ it becomes possible to envisage the emergence of new, more resource-efficient socio-technical systems as the basis of more sustainable development pathways in developing Asia. Such sustainable socio-technical systems will emerge in the context of interaction between domestic and globalised markets, knowledge flows and governance. is necessary to evaluate the results generated by the design and implementation of personnel policies. This is the goal of
the HR audit that includes two different analyses and valuations: the HR policies and their level of fit with the strategy
of the firm, and the characteristics of human capital. Several criteria have been used to assess different HR policies. Nevertheless,
the measurement of the value that human capital brings to the firm is a very complex topic. Consequently, different models
are being presented that aim to properly solve this challenge. This paper will analyze the HR function from two perspectives:
the evaluation of the implemented policies and the quality of human capital in relation to real competencies, and the capability

This article analyzes the factors determining the intention to use the websites of the rural tourism accommodations to search for information and to make online reservations. Based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), a model is developed to explain the intention to use the websites, incorporating as explanatory variables the perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use (basic variables of the TAM) and the following key attributes of tourism websites: information, interactivity, and navigability. The results of a sample of 1083 users indicate that (1) the perceived usefulness is the main direct antecedent of the intention to use the websites to search for information and make online reservations, and that (2) information on the accommodation and destination positively influences the perceived usefulness, whereas both the interactivity and navigability have a positive effect on the perceived ease of use of the websites. 相似文献
