Distribution channel research has been advanced in recent years by contributions based on the political economy paradigm,
transaction cost analysis, and relationship marketing. Drawing on these bodies of thought, we propose a new conceptualization
of the structure of marketing channel relationships. Relationship structure is defined in terms of decision-making structure
and operational integration. The proposed model of channel structure antecedents and consequences is consistent with the major
research paradigms but extends beyond simple categorical assemblages of constructs to provide an ordered set of relationships
based on theory and empirical research. This conceptualization reconciles some apparent contradictions in the literature and
provides a clear focus for structure, process, and performance research in channels.
He received his Ph.D. in marketing from Louisiana State University. He has published in the areas of marketing channels, retailing,
and logistics. His work has appeared in theJournal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Marketing
Channels, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Materials Management, Journal of Marketing Education, and others.
He served as the managing director of public relations with the Federal Express Corporation before entering the Ph.D. program
at Alabama. He holds a B.B.A. in accountancy from the University of Mississippi and an M.A. in marketing from the University

An aggregate analysis of supply response in the paddy (rice) sector of Sri Lanka during 1952-87 is conducted to identify the impact of pricing policy, irrigation programmes, institutional credit and concessional sales on area, yield and overall supply. The focus of the estimation procedure is the selection of an appropriate functional form for regressions and on the price variable that best represents the price to which producers respond in making area and yield decisions. In the case of both area and yield, the econometric criteria favour the acceptance of log-linear equations with the ratio of the guaranteed price of paddy to fertiliser price. On the basis of overall supply elasticity estimates, it is concluded that while pricing policy, irrigation programmes and institutional credit provide incentives to the expansion of paddy production, concessional sales of rice act as a disincentive. 相似文献

In this paper we investigate the use of the structured full rank model for hedging the balance sheet of a financial institution. Simulation results suggest that the optimal hedge is insensitive to changes in parameter estimates. In addition, we hedge a portfolio of Treasury bills using both the full information covariance matrix and the structured covariance matrix. We then contrast these results with those obtained from a duration-based model. Empirical results suggest that the structured full rank model is generally more effective in hedging applications than either the full information model or duration-based model. 相似文献

In this paper we compare alternative asymptotic approximations to the power of the likelihood ratio test used in covariance structure analysis for testing the fit of a model. Alternative expressions for the noncentrality parameter (ncp) lead to different approximations to the power function. It appears that for alternative covariance matrices close to the null hypothesis, the alternative ncp's lead to similar values, while for alternative covariance matrices far from Ho the different expressions for the ncp can conflict substantively. This paper examines the comments submitted by UK companies on 20 proposed accounting standards to test the hypotheses that executives favor standards that increase, or dampen the variance of, accounting profit numbers on which their incentive remuneration is based. Test results were generally as hypothesised but only the profit variance outcomes were statistically significant. Allowing for political environment changes affected only the profit variance results. There was no evidence that the relative monetary size of bonus payments was a significant lobbying factor. This paper examines the impact of announcements of dividend changes by bank holding companies (BHCs) on equity returns. Many empirical studies of dividend behavior reveal positive market responses to dividend increases, which have been interpreted as confirmation of the signalling theory of dividend behavior. These studies typically focus on “large” changes, however. We argue that BHCs allow for a stronger test of signalling theory because regulatory monitors, in effect, “certify” dividend signals. Consequently, even “small” dividend increases should result in positive abnormal equity returns. Assuming portfolio returns are normally distributed, it is shown that both Sortino ratio (SR) and upside potential ratio (UPR) are monotonically increasing functions of the Sharpe ratio. As a result, all three risk‐adjusted performance measures provide identical ranking among investment alternatives. The effects of skewness and kurtosis are then evaluated within the Edgeworth‐Sargan density family. For the Sortino ratio, the above conclusion remains valid in the presence of negative skewness or excessive kurtosis. Similar results apply to the UPR with modifications. For all other cases, both SR and UPR provide exactly opposite ranking among investment alternatives to that suggested by the Sharpe ratio when the Sharpe ratio is large. Applications to futures hedging are discussed. We develop a method for determining the significance of the effect of a certain event (stock split, corporate restructuring, change in regulation, etc.) on unsystematic volatility of asset returns. Simulations show that the suggested tests reject the true null hypothesis of no effect on volatility at appropriate levels, whereas the rejection rates of a false null hypothesis increase with the magnitude of the effect. An application of the method to corporate spin‐offs reveals statistically significant and long‐lasting estimated increases in unsystematic volatility of parent companies' returns. 相似文献
