This paper consolidates and summarizes the findings of the preceding three empirical papers in the LEAD special issue. A research framework is offered that reflects the research approach followed to date and that incorporates the Ubuntu leadership philosophy as an antecedent for explaining certain leader attributes and behaviours. The research framework also serves as a vehicle against which to examine the quantitative data resulting from the future administration of a quantitative survey in the next phase of the LEAD research project. The paper concludes with the presentation of several propositions to stimulate thinking and to serve as initial guides for future research. Copyright © 2014 ASAC. Abstract

On the basis of an exploratory survey of executives from a cross-section of U.S. advertising agencies, this article examines the relationship between agency creative philosophies and agent creative risk taking. The natures of both creative risk and agency philosophy are discussed. Multiple measures of risk taking are applied and the findings suggest that agency executives working in agencies with clear identities are more likely to take risks than are those in agencies without such identities (hybrid philosophies), but not for all measures of risk. The extent to which the size of client plays a role also is assessed. After an assessment of the findings, limitations and suggestions for further research are discussed.  相似文献

This study examines the similarities and differences in the perceptions of effective leadership and motivation among the African Diaspora in the United States and Canada (LEAD). Ten focus groups with a total of 56 participants were conducted in the US and Canada. Using NVivo, results show both similarities and differences in these perceptions. The African Diaspora in both countries described an effective leader as one who is wise and knowledgeable. The African Diaspora in the US also focused on charisma and humility, while those in Canada stressed motivation and inspiration. Moreover, the US participants stated that support and nonmonetary rewards were the major motivators for leaders, whereas Canadian participants indicated task completion and monetary rewards as major motivators. Data from a cross‐section of 438 Russian consumers were collected and analyzed to evaluate consumer preference for ten product types—five consumables and five durables. Results indicate that when Russian consumers consider purchasing a consumable product, consumer ethnocentrism levels and product characteristics reinforce each other, resulting in a strong domestic bias; however, these variables conflict with each other when consumers consider durable products, resulting in consumers exhibiting an inclination for imported durables. This indicates that product characteristics may influence product preference (domestic versus imported) more than consumer ethnocentrism levels. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 requires incumbent monopoly phone companies to lease elements of their networks to rivals. An important policy question is whether these unbundled elements are substitutes for entry modes that are more facilities‐based. In this article, we estimate demand curves for unbundled elements with the goal of assessing cross‐price effects between two of the more popular entry modes that differ in the mix of unbundled and self‐supplied inputs. As expected, we find downward sloping demand curves for unbundled elements. We also find own‐price elasticities in the elastic region of demand. What we do not find is evidence of substitution; we are able to reject the hypothesis of effective substitution between the two entry modes.  相似文献
