This paper examines the three main categories of State intervention. Before approaching the analysis of intervention, I attempt to shed light on the forming of social choices and the decisions of State rulers. I show how market process and property rights solve problems pertaining to social choice, which in turn stems from the application of the majority rule in a democratic society. Along these lines I view how the State fails to regulate externalities, stabilize the economy and redistribute income. For this purpose the following research applies the theory of property rights, the theory of rational expectations and the theory of public choice respectively to each of the above problems. The conclusion points to a synthesis of these theories, offering a highly demonstrative categorical framework of critique against State intervention. Recently a debate emerged in Italy, about the changing pattern of specialization in the sectors traditionally considered as cornerstones of the national economy. Such changes are far from representing a hopeless process of decline. Rather this process should be regarded as a step in a process of structural change, in which one can find the ingredients of creative destruction. This leads to spell out the hypothesis that the Italian economy has been taking a new direction, rather than a dead-end. In this paper we carry out an analysis of the evolution of Total Factor Productivity in the different macro-sectors at the regional level, over the period 1982-2001. The results of the analysis confirm the existence of a generalized process of transition characterized by the growing weight of service sectors. Within the Piedmont region, the case of Turin is of paramount importance, as it has influenced the national economy since the early decades of the 20th century. (JEL: O41, O47)  相似文献

This paper deals with the problem of explaining the survival of cooperative behavior in populations in which each person interacts only with a small set of social ‘neighbors’, and individuals adjust their behavior over time by myopically imitating more successful strategies within their own neighborhood. We identify two parameters—the interaction radius and the benefit–cost ratio—which jointly determine whether or not cooperation can survive. For each value of the interaction radius, there exists a critical value of the benefit–cost ratio which serves as the threshold below which cooperation cannot be sustained. This threshold itself declines as the interaction radius rises, so there is a precise sense in which dense networks are more conducive to the evolution of cooperation.  相似文献

This paper examines the effects of ownership structure and board characteristics on performance in publicly traded Taiwanese firms that are controlled by founding families. Results show that when shares are owned by institutional investors, particularly foreign financial institutions, firms perform better. However, where families are the major shareholders, this is not the case. In addition, boards that are independent of the financial interests of the founding family have a positive impact on performance, whether measured by accounting ratios, operating performance or the stock market. Ecological economics and sustainable development economics are the basic theories to research on circulareconomy. Through the systemically research on the relationship of the three above, this paper thinks that the reuse andrecycle of circular economy is a way that the stall is mended after a sheep is lost. Although the reduction technicallycontrols the production process, it cannot solve the waste caused by blind production and excess competition. We haveexperienced variety obstacles when implementing the circular economy, whose main reason is the conflict between theindividual ration and the social ration. Therefore, only when the individual ration and social ration incline to conformity,the cooperating Nash equilibrium will be appeared. In order to realize the harmony of ecology, economy and society, wehave to explore effective evaluation theory. This paper cites the "five flows of wealth operation theory" from professorMa Chuandong to search operation mechanism of circular economy, makes clear the developing thoughts of circulareconomy based on the realities, and brings forward some countermeasures to develop circular economy based on theabove theoretical analysis.  相似文献

雇佣契约并不是简单的"自我执行"契约,而是基于可置信威胁由第二方强制实施的一种"私人秩序".这使得"资本雇佣劳动"型的雇佣契约内会发生雇主对雇员通过"解雇要挟"而独占全部准租金的行为.尽管法律上"退出的自由"从形式上保证了雇员通过退出可以不受契约内不公正对待,但由于"退出的自由取决于对生产性资源处置权的私人控制",而雇员往往又不占有资本这一最重要的生产性资源,所以,雇员并没有实质性的退出自由,此时,国家与法律的适时介入,对于保证雇佣契约的公正性也必不可少.  相似文献

This paper analyzes how the use of endogenous direct advertising affects the functioning of a horizontally-differentiated market. We formulate a two-stage game of pricing and informative advertising in which two firms, first, compete with mass advertising and, later, build a database using their historical sales records and compete by directly targeting the ads on their potential customers. We show that, compared to the case where firms only use mass advertising, direct advertising yields higher advertising efforts and an intertemporal reallocation of both market power and profits from the first to the second period. We also find that targeting increases the overall firms’ profit and the level of social welfare, but the impact on the average intertemporal price and consumer surplus is ambiguous. Finally, when reaching the potential market with mass advertising is sufficiently expensive, the use of direct advertising leads firms to provide the socially optimal level of advertising whereas, if mass advertising is cheap, firms tend to launch too little advertising in the first period and too much in the second.  相似文献
