Games of social interactions with local and global externalities

In this paper we present a result on the existence of pure strategies Nash equilibrium which covers a large class of games with local and global social interactions. The result highlights common features of well-known games analyzed in the literature.     

A Neurological Study of Compulsive Buying Behaviour

The following article describes a study of the neural correlates of compulsive buying. Twenty-six non-compulsive (“normal”) and 23 compulsive buyers were measured using functional magnetic resonance imaging while performing purchasing decisions. The compulsive buyers were selected based on strict criteria, such that they were all undergoing psychotherapeutic treatment due to their buying behaviour. The results show evidence of significant differences between non-compulsive and compulsive buyers regarding brain activity in regions known to be involved in decision making. The findings give a deeper insight into the nature of compulsive buying and are relevant to consumer policy.

Strategisches Controlling durch Kooperation von Controllerbereich und Strategieabteilung?

Trotz zahlreicher Forderungen nach einem strategischen Controlling zeigen empirische Studien, dass Controller in vielen Unternehmen nur selten strategische T?tigkeiten wahrnehmen. Eine M?glichkeit für Controller, eine st?rkere Mitwirkung im Strategieprozess zu erreichen, besteht aus Sicht der Controllingforschung darin, mit der Strategieabteilung zusammenzuarbeiten. Nach der Ressourcenabh?ngigkeitsperspektive bietet kooperatives Verhalten für Controller die M?glichkeit, ihre strategischen F?higkeiten zu erweitern und sich als Anbieter strategischer Leistungen im Unternehmen zu positionieren. In der in diesem Beitrag vorgestellten Studie wird die angenommene Wirkung einer Zusammenarbeit von Controllerbereich und Strategieabteilung auf die Nutzung von strategischen Controllerleistungen erstmalig auch empirisch untersucht. Zudem werden ausgew?hlte Einflussfaktoren der Kooperation analysiert.
