This paper studies the effects of international integration of capital markets in a world where countries differ in their labor market institutions: one country has a perfectly competitive labor market while the other is unionized. We show that workers should favor autarky in the unionized country, but oppose it in the non unionized country and vice versa for owners of capital. Aggregate gains from integration, however, are negative. We also show that, under capital mobility, an increase in relative bargaining power of unions does not always improve workers' welfare. 相似文献

This study analyzes the marketing ethics decision‐making process of small business managers. In particular, it examines the relative influences of ethical perceptions, personal moral philosophies, and gender on ethical intentions of small business managers. The sample of this study consists of professional members of the American Marketing Association working in companies with 500 employees or fewer. The results reveal that perceived ethical problem is a positive factor of a small business manager's ethical intention. The results generally support our hypothesis that female managers tend to be more ethical in their intention than their male counterparts. However, the results indicate that neither dimension of personal moral philosophy—idealism and relativism—is a significant predictor of a manager's ethical intention. 相似文献

Building on an existing framework concerning ethical intention, this research explores how Thai business people perceive the
importance of ethics in various scenarios. This study investigates the relative influences of personal characteristics and
the organizational environment underlying the Thai business people’s ethical perception. Corporate ethical values and idealism
are shown to positively influence a Thai manager’s perceptions about the importance of ethics. While their ability to perceive
the existence of an ethical problem is negatively influenced by relativism, it is positively impacted by their existing perceptions
about the importance of ethics. Results also suggest positive relationships between perceived importance of ethics and perceived
ethical problems with ethical intention. These results extend research in understanding the relationship between the antecedents

This paper explores the relationship between family governance practices and financial performance of the business and family
assets of business-owning families. A business-owning family that shares a focus on preserving and growing wealth as a family
is defined as the enterprising family. Results of the study are consistent with predictions about the functioning of the enterprising family derived from research
using social capital theory and group dynamics, especially with respect to teams. Family governance practices (family constitution,
family code of conduct, clear selection and accountability criteria, family council, formal family communication mechanisms
and family reunions) are hypothesized to build a strong and unified business-owning family functioning as a team. Results
show that these practices are positively associated with financial performance. This relationship is mediated by a focus on
preserving and growing business wealth as a family. Analyses are conducted on a sample of 64 family businesses from 18 countries. 相似文献

The aim of the research is to estimate the potential demand for certified clams in Italy and to investigate the determinants of maximum amount that respondents are willing to pay for this product. Quantitative analysis was used based on 1,067 face-to-face interviews collected in 3 Italian regions in the north bordering the Adriatic Sea (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna) carried out during 2008. The consumers' willingness to pay (WTP) is measured using a contingent valuation method. In order to estimate separately the determinants of the probability that respondents are willing to pay and the maximum that they are willing to pay, a generalization of Tobit model was adopted. The results indicate that consumers are willing to pay a premium price mainly to purchase better quality products. The research provides some initial insight into consumers' WTP that can be useful for certified fish farming. 相似文献
