The objective of this article is to analyze the strategies or patterns of adaptation of firms for responding to environmental requirements or expectations. We specifically analyze the influence of the different pressure agents or stakeholders on the degree of proactivity of these patterns. We therefore propose and validate four types of environmental response pattern, representing particular configurations of both the scope of environmental objectives and their allocation of internal resources. The analysis, which is focused on a sample of 240 industrial firms, provides empirical evidence enabling us to identify, understand, and evaluate the impact of stakeholders on the choice of environmental response pattern. The growing complexity of the global business environment is leading innovative firms to demand further external counselling to better handle rapid change and increasing uncertainty. Likewise, the implementation of new information systems is usually carried out with the help of external advisors. This paper examines whether the provision of consulting services undermines audit reporting quality by testing for an association between advisory services and audit reporting. A cross-sectional logistic regression is estimated to test the relationship between consulting fees and the audit outcome. The evidence suggests that there is no statistically significant association between non-audit fees and audit outcome. This finding is consistent with the idea that audit reporting quality is not impaired by the provision of consulting services. 相似文献

Sales calls are one of the most valuable and expensive resources available to industrial sales managers. The main purpose of this research was to look at the relationship between an increase in sales call frequency and some important outcomes in the buyer-seller relationship. To do so, we adopted a longitudinal research design where data from 357 customers of one industrial supplier were obtained over a two-year period of time. Results indicated that an increase in call frequency has a positive effect on sales volume, perceived service quality, perceived value for money and overall customer satisfaction. Furthermore, these effects tend to diminish as relationships become longer, and are stronger at higher levels of hierarchy in the buying company. 相似文献

This paper analyses the causes of Portuguese catching-up to the European core, in the 20th century, within a growth accounting framework. It concludes that investment in human and physical capital was the main driving force of economic growth and that variation in output growth rates are attributable to changes in total factor productivity growth. Although commitment is one of the attributes of family firms of continuing interest to researchers, they almost always study
it from the perspective of the owning family. In the current work, we analyze the commitment of the non-family employees.
We propose a model of commitment, with the aim of studying the implications that this variable may have for family businesses.
We study both the aspects on the basis of the approaches of Meyer and Allen’s three-component model of organizational commitment
and stewardship theory. Results show that the identification level of non-family employees positively and significantly influences
the profitability and the survival or continuity of family-owned businesses. At the same time that their involvement level

We use Bayesian model averaging to analyze industry return predictability in the presence of model uncertainty. The posterior analysis shows the importance of inflation and earnings yield in predicting industry returns. The out‐of‐sample performance of the Bayesian approach is, in general, superior to that of other statistical model selection criteria. However, the out‐of‐sample forecasting power of a naive i.i.d. forecast is similar to the Bayesian forecast. The food industry sector has seen major changes in the ways it needs to compete. Spain became linked to the European Community
in the early 1970s by an adherence treaty which regulated food exports to the member countries. Subsequently, when Spain became
a full European Community member in January 1986, both exports and imports to and from countries (Mediterranean or otherwise)
became regulated. There had not previously been a tradition of trade links with most of these countries. After 10 years of
full coexistence with the other European members, it is possible to test the effect of free circulation of goods, the major
presence of community multinationals in the markets, the restructuring of the food industry sector, and the penetration of
Spanish products in European markets. At present, the objectives of economic convergence contemplated in the Maastricht Treaty
call for the control of macroeconomic variables (particularly inflation) which affect the food industry (by virtue of its
special characteristics) far more than the remaining sectors because of its peculiarities.

The principal purpose of this study is to analyze econometric estimates in order to explain tourist arrivals to Aruba from the United States, The Netherlands and Venezuela. The study specified a dynamic econometric model for modeling short term as well as the long-term responses. It estimated both linear and log-linear functions, and it applied the Box–Cox statistical method to determine the appropriate functional form. The inclusion of Venezuela as a developing country permitted the comparison of the behavior of tourism demand in relatively rich and poor countries. The results indicated the extent to which cross-country behavior of demand differs with respect to changes in effective prices and exchange rates. This study can assist in the formulation of future macroeconomic policies as well as market and pricing strategies in a small or microstate economy. 相似文献
