Previous researchers could not find empirical support for a relationship between the characteristics of the data-processing charge-back system and the impacts on the organization. The lack of empirical evidence may be caused by a missing variable problem. This paper proposes an intermediary variable: the use of the charge-back system. This research finds an empirical relationship between the characteristics of the system and its use. A pilot study was conducted to investigate the conditions of use of data-processing charge-back systems in organizations. For operations costs, results indicate that the variability of the charges, user's authority over data-processing activities and user involvement in the budgetingprocess are the important factors in explaining the use of a budget report. As for development costs, the quality of the information on the charges and user involvement in the budgeting process are the most important factors. However, the authors wish to caution readers that this is a pilot study with a convenience sample of twenty-five questionnaires collected from seven firms. Résumé Par le passé, les chercheurs n'ont pu établir de support empirique pour la relation existant entre les caractéristiques d'un système informatique d'imputation des coǔts et son impact sur l'entreprise. Le manque de preuves empiriques peut ětre dǔ à un problème de variable manquante. Cette étude propose donc une variable intermédiaire: L'usage du système d'imputation des coǔts. Cette recherche a établi une relation empirique entre les caractéristiques du système et son usage. Une étude pilote a été menée pour étudier les conditions d'utilisation de systèmes informatiques d'imputation des coǔts dans les entreprises. Quant aux frais d'exploitation, les résultats indiquent que la variabilité des imputations, le contrǔle de l'utilisation sur les activités informatiques et le rǒle de l'utilisateur dans l'élaboration du budget constituent des facteurs importants dans la justification d'un rapport budgétaire. Quant aux frais de développement, la qualité des données relatives aux frais et le rǒle de l'utilisateur dans l'élaboration du budget sont les facteurs les plus importants. Financial globalisation has been associated with divergent current account patterns in emerging markets. In this paper we
test for the relevance of financial market characteristics in explaining different current account patterns in emerging Europe
and emerging Asia. We find that better developed and more integrated financial markets increase emerging markets’ ability
to borrow abroad. The degree of financial integration within the convergence clubs as well as the extent of reserve accumulation
are found to be the most significant factors to explain divergent current account patterns in emerging Europe and emerging

A sizeable portion of the working population perceives that they are overqualified for their jobs. This is problematic, given that research consistently shows that such beliefs translate into lower levels of job satisfaction. Hence, it behoves human resource management (HRM) scholars to identify factors that influence perceptions of overqualification and also moderators that may reduce the negative effect of perceived overqualification on job satisfaction. In this study, we present a moderated path model that posits that the quality of the relationships that employees hold with their leader and with their team is not only antecedents of perceived overqualification but it is also hypothesised to weaken the negative relationship between perceived overqualification and job satisfaction. Survey data that were gathered from two organisations in the Netherlands (n = 183) supported the model. Implications for theory and practice in HRM are discussed. © 2015 John Wiley & Sons Ltd 相似文献

Traditional models of economic development such as economic base and urban revitalization models have been found wanting. Both models rely on expert-based assessments of local development needs. More recent approaches call for a stronger focus on local development needs and resident skills as the basis for designing development strategies. One such neighborhood-based approach to development is presented in this paper. Its initial step was a survey of 444 households representing 1398 residents conducted in the Hamilton Hill and Vale neighborhoods of Schenectady, New York a 'downsized' community of about 65,000 residents in the Capital District of New York State. Survey results show a strong need for recreation, childcare, a grocery store, care for the elderly and home repairs. Residents' self-assessed job skills and interests appear to be well suited to meet these needs. Yet despite these promising results, barriers to neighborhood-based development persist. These barriers reiterate the long history of isolation prevalent in US inner city neighborhoods. Two issues are particularly characteristic of the barriers that continue to keep urban neighborhoods isolated from their larger context. They are: (1) a lack of effective communication between local residents and decision makers; and (2) a lack of valuation systems that properly assess the value of social and environmental context and their contributions to local development. 相似文献

This study examined whether worktime control buffered the impact of worktime demands on work–family interference (WFI), using data from 2,377 workers from various sectors of industry in The Netherlands. We distinguished among three types of worktime demands: time spent on work according to one’s contract (contractual hours), the number of hours spent on overtime work (overtime hours), and the number of hours spent on commuting (commuting hours). Regarding worktime control, a distinction was made between having control over days off and vacations (leave control) and having control over starting and finishing times (flextime). These three worktime demands were expected to have separate as well as joint effects on WFI, whereas worktime control should buffer these adverse effects of worktime demands on WFI. Stepwise regression analyses showed that working high numbers of contractual and overtime hours was indeed associated with high WFI. Further, worktime control indeed made a difference in terms of WFI: whereas leave control contributed directly to lower WFI, flextime buffered the adverse effects of long contractual workhours. Our results suggest that very long working days should be prevented, and that worktime control may be a powerful tool to help workers maintaining a good work–family balance. 相似文献
