Many governors want to convert medicaid to a block grant and do away with the myriad federal rules that have vastly expanded the program's reach in recent years. Congress may oblige them. But groups that fought for the rules aren't going to sit still.  相似文献

This article provides an overview of current and prospective ethical issues facing commercial (as opposed to leisure) travel agents. Industry wide ethical issues include conflicting pressures from suppliers and clients, competency requirements for agents and misleading advertising and sales claims (vaporware in industry jargon). Issues with travel suppliers include calculation and payment of commissions, fare loopholes, frequent flyer plans and the use and abuse of benefits directed to individual employees. Issues with corporate clients of travel agents include hidden preferred carriers or suppliers, client pressure to use fare loopholes and hidden relationships with corporate travel consultants. Future issues include protecting client privacy, free riding, and divergent international business practices. Thomas W. The stakes have risen in the fight to save medicare from demise at its own hands. The program could go bankrupt as early as 2001, and campaign rhetoric may have harmed chances for bipartisan cooperation. Here's a look at some key administration, congressional and health care players in next year's second round.  相似文献

Vital parts
As the demand for organ transplants has grown, a shortage of hearts, kidneys, lungs and other vital organs has developed. Government and health officials have been forced to ration these vital organs. But what's fair? Who should be helped first--the sickest or those who have waited longest for help?  相似文献
