Firms adopting email marketing strategy often complain about low click-through rate (CTR). Scarcity of attention in this digital economy requires including psychological aspects of consumer behavior into the design considerations of digital contents. In this study, we propose differential effects of link placements in email newsletter on their CTR. We explain the observed effects of link placements on CTR drawing concepts from psychology and visual heuristics. The empirical analysis confirms that when it comes to clicking on the links of a newsletter, the click-through follows a U-pattern, i.e. as users traverse the links placed on a U-path their responsiveness decreases gradually. Thus, links placed in the left region of an email newsletter have higher impact than those placed in the right region with links in the top-left region having highest impact. Insights gained from this study can be used in the design consideration of email newsletters. 相似文献
Postmerger integration is a highly challenging and demanding task. Its success depends not only on economic factors but also
on the organisational members' feelings and their personal contribution to the new entity. Mergers are usually made for the
sake of profitability in the first place, whereas less attention is paid to employees in such situations. This article describes
various ethical observations made in our study on corporate mergers in the Nordic Electro-business industry. We examine how
the organisational change was experienced by personnel, what kinds of ethical reflections surfaced in different phases of
the process, and what conclusions might be drawn from them. The main focus is on the ethical meanings that emerged in our
interviewees' stories spontaneously, without the topic of ethics having been separately brought up in the interview situation.
The organisational members: we interviewed 35 electro-business employees who were either transferred from Vattenfall's contracting
unit to the acquiring company or were already working there at the time of the merger. These persons were interviewed twice:
first in 2001, the year of the initial merger, and again in 2005, 4 years from the start of the process and 1 year from the
final ownership change. The merger process seemed to lead to decreased responsibility among the organisational members, which
highlights the discrepancy between genuine ethical thinking and executive talk. Our study also revealed a dramatic shift in
the moral attitudes of the managers who fell from power in the turmoil of organisational change. This moral dimension is evident
in their sharply critical argumentation against the new operating model and new corporate management, as well as in their
eventual indifference and non-commitment to the organisation. The ethical meanings of 'the good life' and a happy work community
slowly disintegrated and were replaced by a longing for the earlier communality and sense of togetherness in their old organisation.
This meant that 'the good life' would have to be sought elsewhere. 相似文献
This paper provides a quantification of the relative importance of export industries in a small open economy using new data
provided by input–output tables describing the Finnish economy in 1928. The Finnish analysis of the Great Depression of the
1930s has been particularly focused on the importance of foreign trade. Despite the lack of quantified evidence, it is commonly
accepted that the export industries had a major role in the economic development. The basic input–output framework is extended
into a production–consumption model to produce a more elaborate model that provides a quantification of changes in final demand
of some key industries in the economy. Results suggest that even though the role of export industries was dominant, domestic
market industries and private consumption also had a significant role in the depression.
This research focuses on the challenges in developing the cross-selling capability of a multinational European corporate bank operating in both the business and consumer markets. An extensive qualitative research design was carried out involving 50 interviews with chief financial officers (CFOs) and bank representatives from four European countries, eight workshops, and participant observation. The barriers to cross-selling experienced by the Bank are specifically: a lack of cooperation within organisational levels and units, non-existent information sharing among employees, underdeveloped internal services for cross-selling, resistance to change, and outdated CRM systems are identified as the five major internal challenges that banks have to cope with. Corporate customers however perceive that the five major challenges that inhibit the corporate banks’ ability to provide better services and to properly exploit cross-selling capability are: the lack of cross-asset management, inability to sell cross-asset services, fragmented organisational structure, the lack of sufficient internal marketing and communication, and lack of knowledge sharing. This study identifies ten major challenges—five that deal with the Bank’s internal personnel, and five identified by key corporate customers—that are essential to overcome to better address cross-selling efforts.
We analyse the predictive content of the mortgage spread for US economic activity. We find that the spread contains predictive power for real GDP and industrial production. Furthermore, it outperforms the term spread and Gilchrist–Zakraj?ek credit spread in a real-time forecasting exercise. However, the predictive ability of the mortgage spread varies over time. 相似文献
The nonindustrial private forest (NIPF) owner's consumption and harvesting decisions are investigated under inheritance and capital income taxes using a two-period model. The impact of the forest-owner's age is introduced into the analysis through a parameter of perceived probability of surviving through a future period. This allows us to study the impacts of ageing on consumption and harvesting decisions as well as to see how the impact of taxes changes among different age groups of forest-owners. The results show that current consumption first decreases and then increases when moving from younger to older individuals regardless of whether non-timber assets are more or less heavily taxed through bequests than consumption. In general, we find that tax effects are dependent on the forest-owner's age. Age tends to intensify the increasing effect of the forest bequest tax on harvesting. The same is true with respect to the decreasing effect on harvesting of the inheritance tax imposed on non-forest assets. Furthermore, the forest-owner's age tends to intensify the effect on harvesting of the capital income tax imposed on forest assets, but diminishes the effect on harvesting of the capital income tax imposed on non-forest assets. 相似文献
This study focused on the prevalence of teams in the firms owned by habitual and first-time entrepreneurs. Most team-oriented
studies in the field of entrepreneurship have rather focused on entrepreneurial than management teams. In this study, we extend
the prior research by linking management teams to the discussion and by paying attention a previous closure experience of
an entrepreneur. The research revealed that management teams were more common in the firms owned by habitual than first-time
entrepreneurs. Correspondingly, there were more solo entrepreneurs among the first-time entrepreneurs. The results also suggest
that a closure experience decrease the probability of solo entrepreneurship. 相似文献
