Impact analysis of September 11 on air travel demand in the USA

This study uses an intervention model to look at the impact of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on air transport passenger demand in the US. The result showed that both domestic and international air traffic was significantly impacted for 1 and 2 months, respectively. The impact pattern was thus abrupt and temporary, instead of gradual and permanent. The approach also provides better forecasts than the seasonal ARIMA benchmark.

Anticipated foreign military threat, arms accumulation, and the current account in a small open economy

This paper examines the effects of an anticipated foreign military threat on consumption, the home weapons stock, and net foreign asset position in a small open economy. If the utility function is separable between butter and guns, the economy decreases both butter and guns when the news arrives, accumulates foreign assets prior to the foreign threat realization, and increases guns as the foreign threat realizes. If the utility function is nonseparable between butter and guns, the economy may have two dynamic responses. The first is similar to the separable case, except that consumption exhibits a discrete jump when the foreign threat realizes. The second is that the economy increases both butter and guns on impact, decumulates foreign assets prior to the foreign threat implementation, but either increases or decreases guns as the foreign threat realizes.     

基于促进农村消费的城乡双向物流发展策略

农民收入的低水平,持续增收难度大,预期收入不确定和预期支出增加,城乡收入差距扩大,城乡双向物流发展滞后等因素制约了我国农村消费的增长。而城乡双向物流的发展能从增加农民收入,转变消费观念等方面促进农村消费。为此,应发挥政府的引导作用,加快农村基础设施建设,构建城乡一体化物流信息平台,培养农村物流专业人才,培育多元化的农村物流市场经营主体,创新城乡物流对接模式,促进城乡双向物流的发展。     

一种新的基于MR的移动网络越区覆盖判别算法

针对移动网络系统中普遍存在的越区覆盖问题,提出了一种新的低成本的越区覆盖判 别的新算法,从而提高网络的性能指标。该算法通过在Iub接口中实时采集信令MR帧,并对 其MR帧进行同步解析获取其帧结构中的相关数据,在考虑用户切换掉话的多种场景下提出了 基于邻区判别的越区覆盖侦测方案。实验结果显示该方法可以有效解决越区覆盖问题。     

An Interpretation of the Collapsing Process of the Bretton Woods System

This paper attempts to determine the environments that market confidence might play a significant role in the collapse of the Bretton Woods system. We build a game-theoretic model of currency crises where a continuum of small speculators can decide their market confidence and trading positions. In the model, the convertibility of dollar is assumed to exhibit a long-term downtrend due to Triffin’s dilemma. The problem is analyzed on the grounds of both certainty and uncertainty. In the certainty case, we find that if the convertibility of dollar is low enough, a dollar crisis is inevitable, but if the convertibility is in an intermediate range with multiple equilibria, the Bretton Woods system is vulnerable to self-fulfilling speculation. In the uncertainty case, the incidence of the confidence crises will disproportionately increase as the convertibility of dollar falls. Lastly, this paper shows that the Federal Reserve Bank’s secrecy may extend the maximum lifespan of the Bretton Woods system.     

The Doctrine of the Mean: Workplace Relationships and Turnover Intention

The present study examines the curvilinear relationships between LMX/TMX and team members' turnover intention simultaneously. That is, members with high LMX, TMX, or both are more likely to have turnover intention. Hypotheses were tested with a sample of 452 nurses, and we adopted the response surface methodology and polynomial regression to test our theoretical model. The hierarchical regression analysis showed that TMX has a U‐shaped relationship with turnover intention but not with LMX. In addition, the results indicate that both the congruence and incongruence of LMX and TMX result in higher turnover intention, but moderate levels of LMX and TMX have the lowest turnover intention.
