Am 1. Juli 2005 ist die 7. Kartellnovelle in Kraft getreten. Im Mittelpunkt steht eine Anpassung des deutschen an das europäische Kartellrecht. Was wurde bei der Harmonisierung des deutschen Kartellrechts im einzelnen beschlossen?

Management Educators’ Expectations for Professional Ethics Development

Professional associations, like the Academy of Management, exist to foster and promote scholarship, exchange among faculty, and an environment conducive to member professional ethics development. However, this last purpose of such organizations has received the least amount of attention. Moreover, previous research has demonstrated that there are differences in perceived needs for professional ethics development between tenured and untenured faculty. In the current research 260 Academy of Management members were surveyed. The research identified differences between tenured and untenured management faculty with respect to expectations for the Academy of Management to provide ethics education and research with respect to the professional code of conduct. Implications of the findings are discussed from a developmental perspective. Directions for future research are provided.

Für die anhaltend hohe Arbeitslosigkeit in Deutschland wird unter anderem ein ineffizientes System der Arbeitsvermittlung und Arbeitsf?rderung verantwortlich gemacht. Sind aus dem Ausland effizientere Systeme bekannt? Welche Rolle spielt die Organisationsform? Sollte die Bundesagentur für Arbeit aufgel?st werden?     

External Linkages and Economic Growth in Colombia: Insights from a Bayesian VAR Model

This paper investigates the sensitivity of Colombian GDP growth to the surrounding macroeconomic environment. We estimate a Bayesian VAR model with informative steady‐state priors for the Colombian economy using quarterly data from 1995 to 2007. A variance decomposition shows that world GDP growth and government spending are the most important factors, explaining roughly 17 and 16 per cent of the variance in Colombian GDP growth respectively. The model, which is shown to forecast well out‐of‐sample, can also be used to analyse alternative scenarios. Generating both endogenous and conditional forecasts, we show that the impact on Colombian GDP growth of a substantial downturn in world GDP growth would be non‐negligible but that the decline still would be mild by historical standards.

Abstract

1. Die Theorie des Risikos in der Lebensversicherung hat für die Praxis bisher wohl nie die Bedeutung erlangt, die man von verschiedenen Seiten für sie beansprucht hat. Die Beurteilung der Stabilität einer Versicherungsanstalt gegen Sterblichkeitsschwankungen, die Festsetznng von Höchstbeträgen auf eigenem Risiko, die Bildung und Verwaltung der Sicherheitsreserven — alles dies wird wohl im allgemeinen nach verhältnissmässig wenig durchgedachten praktischen Erwägungen geregelt, ohne dass dabei die Theorie zur Sprache kommen darf.     

International regulations and environmental performance

This article employs the data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach to compute the environmental performance of all but two Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. It is found that although the environmental performance of countries differs over time, Poland and Hungary are the two best performers for all periods while Italy, Japan, Austria and Switzerland are ranked among the worst. The effect of international regulations and some observed characteristics of countries on environmental performance are also investigated. International regulations are reported to have a positive effect on environmental performance.
