Applying jump-robust methods to estimating integrated volatility is in the mainstream of financial econometrics. However, little if any attention has been devoted to the construction of a jump-free estimator for integrated covariance that overlooks the well-documented manifestation of joint jumps. Joint jumps are contemporaneous within the day. Therefore, this study proposes a three-point approach that not only deals with estimating volatility, but also constructs a singular-jump-free and joint-jump-free covariance. Since the basic idea of the three-point covariance is based on conditional quantiles, we also provide two alternative procedures for finding approximated estimations in practical applications. This article investigates the duration-dependent feature of five Pacific Rim economies. The duration-dependent Markov Switching model is employed to achieve this objective. The Savage–Dickey density ratio is also computed in support of the duration-dependent Markov switching model. The possible bull and bear market dates for each stock market are also identified by the posterior probability from the empirical model. It is unambiguous that Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong are all characterized by duration-dependence in a bear market but no duration-dependence in a bull market. The authors consider the absolute income effect and several relative income effects on happiness. The latter include both a longitudinal comparison, which consists of both upward and downward comparisons, and a parallel comparison with individuals of similar traits. It is found that the longitudinal comparison and parallel comparison exist simultaneously, although the downward comparison is insignificant. However, the symmetry of the upward comparison, downward comparison, and parallel comparison cannot be rejected. Under both the overconfidence and disposition biases, a positive relationship is predicted between prior returns and subsequent trading volume. However, theoretically the overconfidence and disposition effects have different implications on the relationships between the long- and short-position gains of traders and their subsequent buying and selling activities. We examine a unique dataset obtained from the Taiwan Futures Exchange which records all account-level trades and orders. Our data and methodology have the advantage of being able to empirically differentiate these two effects and we demonstrate that different types of traders exhibit different types and levels of behavioral biases. 相似文献

We find that an important programming error was made by Hobijn and Franses ( 2000 ) in conducting multivariate stationarity tests. The empirical results in their paper are subject to errors.
