College students' attitudes towards credit cards

Based on previous studies and using an approach of tripartite classification of attitude, an instrument measuring college students' attitudes toward credit was carefully constructed. Its reliability and validity were tested. Chi-square tests indicated that the factors associated with differences in attitude towards credit card use comprising three components - affective, cognitive and behavioural included gender, academic major, living arrangement, number of credit cards owned, number of all cards (store cards, phone cards, and petrol cards) owned, time of using credit cards, and cosignment status. Implications for consumer credit educators and practitioners were specified.     

PILE UPHOLSTERY FABRICS–CONSTRUCTION CHARACTERISTICS AND ABRASION RESISTANCE

Pile fabrics are currently enjoying a renewed popularity. They are not only an important upholstery fabric but also are gaining importance in other textile end-uses such as apparel, footwear, toys and accessories. Pile fabrics are made in both natural and synthetic fibres as well as natural and synthetic fibre blends. The study was an attempt to develop a procedure to evaluate the physical properties of pile fabrics to determine their suitability for specific end-uses. The study defined and tested different pile fabric samples which were representative of the 1979 interior textile fabric lines. Six pile fabrics, each with different fibre contents were subjected to seven separate tests and the results reported. The tests included fibre identification, fabric weight determination, fabric thickness determination, breaking load determination, tearing strength determination, and abrasion resistance determination. The results found that pile upholstery fabrics of different generic fibres performed differently when subjected to physical testing. The results obtained from the physical properties tests gave results which can be used to compare pile fabrics of different generic fibre content.     

A Model of Household Heating Demand: Home Production with Satiety and an Endowment

A model of household indoor temperature choice is developed and empirically implemented taking into account that indoor temperature exhibits satiety, that temperature is an output of home production, and that there is a natural endowment of outdoor temperature. The model is applied to home heating choices and the welfare effects of an insulation retrofit requirement.     

Nursing Turnover and Hospital Efficiency: An Organization-Level Analysis

This study tests the competing arguments that organization-level turnover is positively associated with organizational inefficiency or, alternatively, positively related to organizational inefficiency only in those organizations experiencing very high or very low turnover. Findings from multivariate analyses support the former argument: in a national sample of 333 hospitals, turnover among registered nurses was found to be associated in a positive linear fashion with both nonpersonnel operating and personnel costs per adjusted inpatient day.
