This paper describes a melding of an established set of hydrological component processes to obtain a full-scale model for reservoir sedimentation. The goal is to achieve a probabilistic system relating reservoir sedimentation to standard injection, river flow, particle transport, and dam storage subsystems. In the conclucing section, it is found that for a certain assembly of process components, the sedimentation process is Poisson, with parameters interpretable in terms of physical variables. The success of irrigation system operation and planning depends on accurate quantification of supply and demand, and an equitable distribution of available water. The ultimate aim of this study was to determine how to meet the irrigation water demands if possible or to minimize the gap between the water supply and the demand. Most of the irrigation literature focuses only on the demand and the distribution aspects of this issue Irrigation projects that receive water from reservoirs, however, can be challenging to manage because the annual fluctuations in available water release from a reservoir can have a considerable impact on the irrigation management strategy. In real‐world situations, the reservoir operating rules guide reservoir operators in making actual water release decisions. This study develops a water balance simulation model for reservoir management, as well as testing it for Kangsabati Reservoir, West Bengal, India. Two rule curves for deciding irrigation water available from the reservoir were generated by taking the average and minimum stage values on a daily basis for a 16‐year period (1988–2003). Maintaining a minimum stage of 120.4 m throughout the year served as another rule to decide the release water available for irrigation. The minimum allowable stage of reservoir corresponding to a particular date of the year can be determined from those reservoir specific rule curves generated for irrigation purposes. The maximum permissible water release/outflow for irrigation from the test reservoir was taken as the volume of water available above the minimum allowable stage corresponding to the selected rule curve. The saturated hydraulic conductivity value (KS) was calibrated to be 4.31 mm day?1 for Kangsabati Reservoir. 相似文献

To test whether hyperthermophilic treatment promotes polylactide (PLA) dissolution and methane conversion under anaerobic digestion conditions, a single thermophilic control reactor (55 °C) and a two-phase system consisting of a hyperthermophilic reactor (80 °C) and a thermophilic reactor (55 °C) were continuously fed with a mixture of PLA and artificial kitchen garbage. In Runs 1 and 2, the PLA dissolution ratios in the two-phase system were 79.2 ± 6.5% and 85.2 ± 7.0%, respectively, higher than those of the control. Batch experimental results indicated that hyperthermophilic treatment could promote PLA dissolution to a greater degree as compared with single thermophilic treatment and that ammonia addition also had a promotional effect on PLA dissolution. In the two-phase system, after hyperthermophilic treatment, dissolved PLA was converted to methane gas under the subsequent thermophilic condition. 相似文献

The escalating world population has led to a drastic increase in water demand in the municipal and drinking water, agriculture and industry sectors. This situation necessitates application of effective measures for the optimal and efficient management of water resources. With this respect, a two-objective socioeconomic model (aimed at job creation) has been presented in this study for the optimum allocation of water resources to industry, agriculture and municipal water sectors. In the agriculture sector, the production function of each product has been determined and then, based on the production functions, areas under cultivation, product yield and the income obtained from each product, the combined objective function has been specified. In the industry sector, since water demand is a function of the amount of produced products, price of supplied water and the price of other supplies, the demand function of this sector was determined regionally. Also, considering the existing necessity in meeting the municipal water requirement, the total amount of water needed by this sector was fully allocated. Then by using two meta-heuristic algorithms, i.e. genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO), the objective functions were maximized and the water resources were optimally allocated between agriculture and industry sectors and the results were compared. Ultimately, comparing the results gained by PSO and GA algorithms, PSO with an economic and profit growth of 54 % and a 13 % rise in employment relative to the base condition, turned out to be more efficient in this application. 相似文献

This research is a study of the implementation of a risk analysis method (RAM) in a French local government. Based on the sociology of translation framework, this study shows that the success of the implementation of this management device is due to the transformation of its initial characteristics. Indeed, the RAM was initially designed to analyze the risks of outsourcing public services and thereby to aid elected officials with decision making. But in the hands of the actors in charge of its implementation, it progressively became a means for the members of the administrative services to inform elected officials about the consequences of their choices. We study a retailer-carrier channel for the purpose of long term planning and coordination. Here, the term channel represents the business interaction between the retailer and the carrier. The retailer sells a particular item with price-dependent demand, whereas the carrier is responsible for transporting the item to the retailer's site. We characterize the profit functions of each channel member as well as the total channel profit. We consider two specific channel structures: (i) the centralized channel and (ii) the decentralized channel. Under the first channel structure, the goal is to set the retail price so as to maximize the total channel profit. Under the latter, the carrier and the retailer choose their own policy parameters, i.e., the freight rate for the carrier and the retail price for the retailer, so as to maximize their individual profits. We model the decentralized channel as a Stackelberg Game and propose a coordination mechanism between the retailer and the carrier in which the retailer signals a price multiplier to the carrier. We illustrate that this mechanism could provide win-win solutions for both parties and present analytical and numerical results on the efficiency of channel coordination. We demonstrate that coordination in retailer-carrier channels can be as promising as supplier-retailer channels. We also discuss the effects of retailer-carrier coordination on inventory levels. 相似文献
