Where do We Go From Here? New Perspectives on the Black Box in Strategic Human Resource Management Research

The main objective of the present research is to briefly review the strategic human resource management (HRM) literature from multilevel theoretical perspectives to summarize what we know about mediating mechanisms in the HR–performance relationship. By doing so, we highlight future research needs to advance theoretical understanding of the ‘black box’ in strategic HRM research. Furthermore, by offering additional theoretical perspectives that can be used to understand the mediating mechanisms at different levels, we suggest future research directions that capture the complexities associated with strategic HRM through a multilevel theoretical lens. Implications of the model are discussed.     

Neo-colonialism and greed: Africans’ views on trophy hunting in social media

Existing studies on the trophy hunting controversy in recent years have largely represented the anti-hunting views of the Western public, while overlooking the opinions of African people. This study taps into Africans’ social media narratives to illuminate the racially, politically, and historically charged context in which trophy hunting occurs in Africa. Data were collected from the Facebook pages of three major social media players with a predominantly African followership, namely, BBC News Africa, News24.com, and NewsDay-Zimbabwe. The dominant pattern was resentment towards what was viewed as the neo-colonial character of trophy hunting, in the way it privileges Western elites in accessing Africa’s wildlife resources. However, the West’s passionate criticism of violence against animals was viewed by participants as overblown, and as evidence of their (Westerners') higher regard for animals than for African people. Interestingly, trophy hunting was not objectionable from an animal rights perspective, but as a consequence of its complex historical and postcolonial associations. In addition, criticism was directed at African politicians who were perceived as allowing wildlife exploitation to satisfy their own greed. In this instance, far from tourism being a facilitator of intercultural understanding and peace, it appears to reproduce images and wounds of a colonial past.

Critical mass of users versus critical mass of services in a multiproduct information service system

In this paper we study the economic behaviour of the suppliers of a set of advanced telecommunications services with a joint adoption cost (common access facilities, learning process, etc.). In fixing the two-part tariffs for their services the suppliers have to share the burden of leaving to the users a surplus sufficient to cover the adoption cost. The lack of coordination in supplying a critical mass of services or in the pricing decisions has high changes to result in suboptimal or unviable diffusion of the new technology as a whole. We present a static optimization model of user behaviour, and derive access and usage demand with a two-part tariff and a joint adoption cost. We compare noncooperative and cooperative market equilibria in a duopoly with perfect information; finally we discuss the extension of our analysis to the case of imperfect information in a dynamic setting.

随着市场环境的变化,企业财务规划的目标、内涵及模型也都发生了变化,这使财务规划的研究因之不断深入。传统的以财务计划为主要形式的财务规划研究已不能适应现代企业财务管理的需要。随着价值管理被越来越多的企业所重视,财务规划研究更强调目标的价值性、内容上的增长性与战略性以及机制上的动态性。     

过程视角下高校实验教学质量调查研究——以N大学为例

实验教学质量高低直接影响高校人才培养的质量及层次,科学的实验教学管理模式有利于提高实验教学质量。从实验教学过程的视角,以N大学812名学生和92名教师为调查对象,就实验教学准备、实施、考核与评价三个过程的教学质量状况进行问卷调查的结果显示,师生对实验教学过程质量的总体评价较高,但对实验设备配置、实验室开放程度、实验项目数量与层次、实验教学考核等过程因素评价指标较低,故高校需进一步加强实验教学过程的质量控制,不断提高实验教学管理水平。     

药物驾驶危害与治理研究总结与展望

药物通过影响人体生理机能侵害正常驾驶行为能力,构成了严重交通安全隐患.近年来,全球交通事故中检出驾驶员服药的频率呈现增高趋势.当前国内学术界对药物驾驶相关问题研究重视不够,不仅导致社会公众对药物驾驶概念缺乏清晰认知,而且相关防治措施也有待完善.通过对国内外药物驾驶危害与治理研究的总结与展望,以期引起社会各界对于药物驾驶这一交通安全问题的重视和思考.
