The notion that gross margin commission plans lead to optimum wages for salespeople and maximum profits for the firm was tested using data from 108 medical supply wholesalers. Results suggest that although gross margin plans may increase wages, they do not improve the contribution profits of the firm.  相似文献

Tardiness is examined as a manifestation of withdrawal, using data from a sample of 173 employees of a printing company located in the midwest. Three sources of tardiness data were used: supervisory ratings, personnel records, and employee self-reports. The results suggest that it may be legitimate to include tardiness within the withdrawal rubric, that tardiness and absenteeism tend to be exhibited by employees simultaneously rather than alternatively, and that tardiness is related to some demographic/background variables, but not to attitudinal variables. Only moderate correspondence is detected among different tardiness measures.  相似文献

This article analyses the technical efficiency of Lisbon’s police precincts by evaluating their relative performance. It starts from the assumption that there is time‐varying efficiency and uses a stochastic cost‐frontier model to generate efficiency scores. Indeed, this efficiency model is thoroughly investigated. However, the results are found to be at best mixed, because the model reveals low efficiency and time‐unvarying scores. To increase efficiency, this article advocates an improvement of top management procedures, based on a governance‐environment framework.  相似文献

This study analyzes the form, stability, and accuracy of Box-Jenkins forecasting models developed for 27 sales series. The order of autoregressive, differencing, and moving average factors is shown for each complete model along with “goodness of fit” criteria. Forecasting models are then presented for a reduced data set and accuracy is compared with seasonally adjusted linear regressions. The results suggest that Box-Jenkins models are often unstable, “goodness of fit” criteria are a poor guide to the best forecasting models, log transforms do not improve accuracy, and Box-Jenkins forecasts are usually (but not always) better than projections made with linear regression techniques.  相似文献

Do business executives sell their souls to the corporation? Is the organization a “paramour” in an executive's life? Is backstabbing the only way to climb the corporate ladder? The basic purpose of this study was to provide answers to these questions by surveying Fortune 500 corporate executives in the marketing, finance, and production areas. 利用2004—2010年我国31个省(自治区、直辖市)生产性服务业的面板数据,运用Cobb-Douglas生产函数,使用面板数据的固定效应模型测度了2004—2010年我国服务业和生产性服务业的TFP增长率,并进行了区域间的比较分析。结果表明:我国服务业的TFP增长相对于制造业滞后,而生产性服务业的TFP却增长迅速,且东部地区的增速快于中、西部地区。最后指出:Baumol的服务业"成本病"理论仅适用于服务业整体,并不适用于具有中间投入作用的生产性服务业。  相似文献

This paper addresses the question of how operators and destination authorities work within a destination region, illustrating a method by which the problems resulting from different geographical scales and objectives of business units can be tackled through co‐operative marketing within a strong destination image. Following a review of the literature, a case study covering the research underpinning a cooperative marketing programme involving hotels in Port Douglas, Tropical North Queensland (TNQ) is presented. The research methodology is outlined. The policy implications of the findings for the State Tourist Organisation and for organisations involved in destination image management are considered, and a conceptual model of cooperative marketing at the destination level is proposed.
