Showrooming, a phenomenon in which customers use brick-and-mortar stores to assess products and then purchase them from online retailers (o-retailers) for lower prices, is considered a great threat to traditional retailers (t-retailers). To combat showrooming, many t-retailers have executed price matching which enables customers to pay o-retailers' lower prices for the identical product. To avoid direct competition with t-retailers who execute price matching, many o-retailers have begun to sell differentiated products from t-retailers, which weakens the information advantage to customers from practicing showrooming. Motivated by these observations, we construct a duopoly game, where a t-retailer and an o-retailer sell products in a same category, to study the profitabilities of product differentiation and price matching in the context of showrooming. The results show that in the scenario without price matching, the o-retailer is likely to benefit from product differentiation only when the o-retailer's differentiated product is more popular with customers than the t-retailer's product. However, in the price matching scenario, the o-retailer also has the opportunity to benefit from product differentiation when the o-retailer's differentiated product is less popular with customers than the t-retailer's product, and product differentiation can be a win-win strategy for the two retailers under certain conditions. Considering the o-retailer's product differentiation decision, the t-retailer is only likely to execute price matching if the non-digital attributes of the product category sold by two retailers are not very obvious. 相似文献

Natural-hyped products are receiving greater attention from and acceptance by consumers worldwide. Environmental factors that foster the demand for natural-hyped products, specifically hemp-based products include the deregulation of the cannabis industry and greater consumer desire for natural foods. Adding to this, the strategic use of stimulant type of cues (e.g., a cannabis leaf) included in product logos, ads, and packaging, seems to create hype associations when evaluating hemp-based products. In this context, this study presents empirical evidence (three experiments and two qualitative studies) that illustrates consumer preference for hemp-based products over ones that do not include hemp as an ingredient (hemp-free). The research focuses on identifying the psychological determinant that orients consumers towards hemp-based products. Findings suggest that the perceived naturalness is the psychological mechanism behind consumers positive evaluation of hemp-based products. Moreover, this study presents evidence that this evaluation is enhanced by the consumer's need for stimulation. Implications of the findings for the role of perceived naturalness and the need for stimulation in marketing strategies are discussed. 相似文献

Summary. The theory of multiple unit auctions traditionally assumes that the offered quantity is fixed. I argue that this assumption
is not appropriate for many applications because the seller may be able and willing to adjust the supply as a function of
the bidding. In this paper I address this shortcoming by analyzing a multi-unit auction game between a monopolistic seller
who can produce arbitrary quantities at constant unit cost, and oligopolistic bidders. I establish the existence of a subgame-perfect
equilibrium for price discriminating and for uniform price auctions. I also show that bidders have an incentive to misreport
their true demand in both auction formats, but they do that in different ways and for different reasons. Furthermore, both
auction formats are inefficient, but there is no unambiguous ordering among them. Finally, the more competitive the bidders
are, the more likely the seller is to prefer uniform pricing over price discrimination, yet increased competition among bidders
may or may not enhance efficiency.

基于农村居民现实最低养老需求,对我国财政的养老补贴支付能力进行测算分析。以修正恩格尔系数为基础测度了农村居民最低养老保险水平,并依据农村恩格尔系数及物价指数的历史变动趋势,预测了2010-2020年农村最低养老动态水平;利用财政收入规模的自回归模型预测了2010-2020年的财政收入规模,结合普惠型养老金总额应为财政收入的5%国际经验,对基本养老金以及最低养老需求占财政收入的比重进行了测算和评价。目前的基本养老金在短期内对改善农村老年人生活有重要作用,但长期来看还需要不断增加,应优化财政支出结构。 相似文献

The market as a mind is the implicit premise in any discussion on whether the market is rational or not. Still, its implications, in terms of ontology and epistemology, are hardly understood. In particular, this paper defines the market's version of the mind-body problem and labels it as finance's “hard” problem. Its denial by modern finance causes this dominant paradigm to fail in dealing with reality in general and to produce incomplete investment knowledge in particular.
