Today, small and large business houses operate collaboratively for the efficiency in the functioning of supply chains. Larger organisations mostly depend on small companies to supply majority of its components and thus they need to be careful while selecting their suppliers. Small organisations performing innovatively and supplying technologically upgraded as well as quality products at a cheaper rate can be a boon for the larger enterprise. This study develops a model for evaluating and selecting small firms as suppliers on the basis of their innovativeness. Best–Worst multi-criteria method is used to rank criteria of innovativeness and also to calculate their weights on the basis of expert opinion. Fuzzy TOPSIS methodology is used to rank the suppliers with respect to these criteria and finally select the best supplier among the available alternatives. A real-world application is illustrated by taking a case of auto component manufacturer and its seven suppliers, 5 main criteria and 23 sub-criteria are taken up for the study.

ABSTRACT

This study compares the accuracy and efficiency of five different estimation methods for predicting financial distress of small and medium-sized enterprises. We apply different methods for a large set of financial and non-financial variables, using filter and wrapper selection, to predict bankruptcy up to 10 years before the event in an open, European economy. Our findings show that logistic regression and neural networks are superior to other approaches. We document how the cost-return ratio considerably affects the location of optimal cut-off points and attainable profit in credit decisions. Once a loan provider selects a particular prediction model, an effort should be made to find the optimal cut-off score to maximize the efficiency of the technique. Indeed, this often involves determining several cut-off levels where the portfolio of products and services exhibits different cost-return characteristics.  相似文献

This article develops and tests a conceptual model to identify the impact of internal drivers (personal and organizational) on the international performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Drawing on the resource-based view of the firm and its capability extensions, it is argued that the effect of drivers is mediated by organizational innovation. To test the proposed theoretical model, we collected data from 120 exporting SMEs in Portugal. Results show that the indirect mediating effect of innovation is particularly relevant with regard to the organizational driver-performance link. Insights contribute to research on the importance of innovation for capability and resource deployment during internationalization.  相似文献

Firms’ foreign market entry mode choice attracts considerable research attention. However, the performance implications of this choice remain inconclusive, particularly in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The present paper draws on the resource-based view (RBV) and develops a theoretical model specifically tailored to the context of SMEs in order to study the relationship between entry mode choice and foreign venture performance. Testing hypotheses on 133 German SMEs, we show that international experience as a resource and product adaptation as a capability improve the performance of non-equity entry modes by mitigating liabilities of smallness inherent to SMEs. We furthermore find empirical support for the joint moderating effect of international experience and product adaptation on the focal relation. Our findings contribute to the SME foreign market entry mode literature and have implications for practitioners and future research.  相似文献

鉴于关系型银行在解决信息不对称中不可或缺的作用,实证分析其对中小企业贷款可获得性的影响表明:企业在银行办理的业务种类越多,贷款的可获得性越大;当中小企业业主或主要管理人员是银行的VIP客户时,贷款的可获得性显著增加;银企关系持续时间和银企距离对贷款可获得性没有显著影响。从总体上看,大银行的贷款可获得性低于小银行,但关系型银行变量对中小企业从大银行贷款的可获得性有显著的正向影响。  相似文献
