This article examines empirically the exchange rate pass-through of car manufacturers on the Swedish market. It first analyzes the changes in prices by supplying countries during the period 1976 - 1996. In a second stage, the relationship between price-level adjusted exchange rates and quality-adjusted prices is investigated. Although there exist significant differences across countries, the evidence shows that actual price adjustments are associated with stabilization of local currency prices. The policy implication of the results is that the use of an exchange rate policy in the case of external imbalances should therefore be reconsidered within the broader context of how market structure and conduct influence the optimal pricing of traded goods. 相似文献

Information and communication systems (ICS) impact their organizational environment in significant ways; hence, the design,
implementation, and use of ICS are inseparably linked to fundamental issues of organizational design and behavior. Current
research in the field of business and information systems engineering (BISE), however, is primarily technology- or practice-oriented
and concerned with the construction and validation of prototypes, whereas little attention is paid to theoretical insights
into organizational phenomena and relationships. In this paper, we argue that paying more attention to organization theory
would provide valuable guidance in addressing the close links between ICS on the one hand, and organizational systems on the
other. To support our argument, we refer to selected theoretical perspectives and highlight their potential relevance to the
BISE field.

Collaborative logistics, also known as shipper collaboration, is a method of reducing the freight logistics cost of firms that produce and/or distribute tangible goods (shippers), which seeks to improve capacity utilizations of trucks. This study looks at this shipper collaboration problem in the U.S. truckload (TL) industry and proposes a new approach. Unlike other studies, which focused on reducing TL costs by utilizing economies of density, we present an approach that utilizes specific TL economies gained by mixing multiple products with different weight‐to‐volume ratios, which we call economies of product diversity. Using theoretical and empirical evidence, we show that the performance of shipper collaboration can be enhanced notably using this concept, economies of product diversity, which is currently overlooked in the literature. 相似文献

ABSTRACT Business relationships are being revolutionized by the use of inter-organizational information systems (IOSs) that connect together separate companies' business processes through the application of Information Technology (IT). The physical value chain is now paralleled by the virtual information chain. Detailed case studies from earlier research suggest that there are huge benefits to be gained from concepts such as Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), shared product design databases and shared production scheduling systems. However, there is little empirical evidence of the overall usage and outcomes of IOS implementation. In this survey, IOS benefits are evaluated using marketing derived frameworks. Evidence from 89 United Kingdom (UK)-based organizations, a large proportion of which are trading internationally, suggests that IOSs are becoming pervasive across different business processes and across different types of industry. The analysis reveals that marketing activities are now dominated by the management of the information along the supply chain and that significant benefits can be realized. However, the time-scale for implementing such systems is of the order of 5 to 10 years and there are significant barriers to successful implementation. 相似文献

Websites and an Automated Call Distribution (ACD) system in a call center are both considered important customer relationship technologies. Integrating concepts from information systems quality and trust transference theory, this paper introduces the concept of inter-satisfaction: the extent to which customer satisfaction with a website leads to satisfaction with an ACD and vice versa. It is hypothesized that dissatisfaction with either the website or the ACD influences potential brand-switching behaviors. A model, largely drawing upon concepts of user satisfaction as developed in information system research, is presented. The model is then tested using data from passengers using Low Cost Carriers (LCCs) in South Korea, specifically 366 passengers at the Jeju International Airport, who experienced both their airlines’ website and call center. A structural equation modeling analysis demonstrates that satisfaction with the website transfers to satisfaction with the ACD system, but not vice versa, and that only dissatisfaction with the website creates a brand-switching intention. 相似文献

Since 1992, the national business systems (NBS) approach has been increasingly used to analyse not only firm characteristics, structures and strategies within NBS, but also the nature of international business and its interactions with both national and transnational institutions. In reviewing 25 years of NBS literature, we heed calls in IB journals urging researchers to use NBS notions and findings in IB research. Our systematic review of 96 articles analyses the patterns and contributions of NBS literature, revealing four thematic junctures: (1) comparative business systems, (2) firm internationalisation and the management/organisation inside MNCs, (3) the role of internationalisation in the development of organisational capabilities and innovation and (4) the emergence of transnational communities in and across firms and societies. Themes are described in terms of (a) the research questions (RQ) they focus on, (b) how NBS approach investigates the RQ and what are the major findings, (c) how IB frames and approaches the same RQ, (d) how does the NBS approach extend the perspectives of IB and (e) what are the problems faced by NBS in terms of developing further insights into the RQ. Our review contributes to the recent endeavour of IB research to institutionalism, encouraging a productive dialogue between IB and NBS research. 相似文献

Evolutionary Systems Design (ESD) is a universal general problem solving, formal modeling, design framework for purposeful
complex adaptive systems (PCAS) and processes, i.e., task-oriented group processes. These processes constitute policy making,
group decision, negotiation, and multiagent problem solving with human and/or artificial agents. ESD is also a framework for
computer group support systems (GSS) that support these processes. The ESD general framework can be applied to define and
solve specific problems. In this article the ESD framework is presented and illustrated by example. The article provides background

ABSTRACTThis paper presents a fuzzy logic model to support decisions for the suggested speed limit for sections of highways as they become affected by adverse road conditions, environmental factors and differing traffic levels. The definition of the main factors, and their weight, that reduce safety on highways was conducted by the Delphi method, consulting traffic engineering experts. The survey served as a basis for structuring indicators and indexes in a soft decision tree, structured by a fuzzy logic system. Difficult polarizing problems/conflicts are pervasive in the United States and the world. Welcome to spiritual rationality/connectedness
problem solving and negotiation involving spirituality and rationality, and emphasizing connectedness in problem solving.
In particular, we develop CPSN-ESD—Connectedness Problem Solving and Negotiation (CPSN) through Evolutionary Systems Design
(ESD)—discussing spiritual rationality/connectedness and highlighting connectedness with One and with each other as values,
among others, in problem solving. In CPSN-ESD, CPSN is effected through ESD, a game-theory based, general formal systems-
spirituality modeling/design framework for individual and multiagent (group) problem solving and negotiation implemented by
computer technology. Problem solving is represented by an evolving problem system of purposes and their relations from the
lowest-level action to the highest purpose, ultimate common ground—spirituality, connectedness with One (or a surrogate, as
discussed). For an agent, an evolved problem system satisfying spiritual rationality identifies right action (a solution)
producing spirituality, connectedness with One (or a surrogate). A negotiation agreement requires multiagent agreement on
the action to be taken. Agents may be natural or artificial. The paper focuses mostly on human agents with ideas being applicable
to other natural and artificial (computer) agents with lesser (or greater) capabilities than humans according to their built-in
capabilities. Present-to-future CSPN-ESD work includes furthering support of human agents; designing spiritual agents; designing
multiagent systems for connectedness capitalism; developing connectedness democracy; further research and applications on

The increasing globalization of commerce has presented incalculable challenges as well as opportunities for small- and medium-sized enterprises, particularly exporting firms. This study focuses on the relationship between entrepreneurship and successful export marketing performance, testing the hypothesis that entrepreneurship is positively related to such performance. The research reveals that entrepreneurial behavior is positively correlated with export marketing behavior, suggesting both firm and government actions to boost competitiveness. 相似文献
