试论黑人英语在《哈克尔贝里·芬历险记》中的文学作用

马克·吐温的代表作《哈克尔贝里·芬历险记》是美国文学的里程碑,它开创了美国小说口语化的先河。作者在作品中大量地使用黑人英语,对于作品的成功起到了非常重要的作用。黑人英语是英语的一种变体,其语音、形态、句法和词汇系统有明显不同于标准英语的特征。它的形成是特定的社会环境、教育背景和经济状态所致,这与民族本身无关。作品中黑人方言的运用对于表现当时的社会状况、塑造人物性格、揭示作品主题等方面起着重要的文学作用。

PRODUCTIVITY GROWTH AND THE PHILLIPS CURVE: A REASSESSMENT OF THE US EXPERIENCE

In this paper, we analyse a new Phillips curve (NPC) model and demonstrate that (i) frictional growth, i.e., the interplay of wage staggering and money growth, generates a non‐vertical NPC in the long run and (ii) the Phillips curve (PC) shifts with productivity growth. On this basis we estimate a dynamic system of macro‐labour equations to evaluate the slope of the PC and explain the evolution of inflation and unemployment in the USA from 1970 to 2006. Because our empirical methodology relies heavily on impulse response functions, it represents a synthesis of the traditional structural modelling and (structural) vector autoregressions. We find that the PC is downward‐sloping with a slope of ?3.58 in the long run. Furthermore, during the stagflating 1970s, the productivity slowdown contributed substantially to the increases in both unemployment and inflation, whereas the monetary expansion was quite ineffective and led mainly to higher inflation. Finally, the monetary expansion and productivity speedup of the roaring 1990s were both responsible for the significant lowering of the unemployment rate.

Modification of Costanza's model of valuing ecosystem services and its application in China

In the past, evaluations of ecosystem functions were mostly based on Costanza's model, whereas the spatial, quality and temporal characteristics of regional ecosystems were not considered in the model.Focusing on these Issues, coefficients of regional difference, spatial heterogeneity and willingness-to-pay (WTP) were established to modify Costanza's model, and a new comprehensive valuation model of ecosystem functions is proposed.The analytical results indicate that the comprehensive model could evaluate regional ecosystem functions in China accurately and provide more helpful information for decision-making.The empirical study on Zhangbei County in Hebei Province shows that the intensive human activities could limit the provision of ecosystem functions while the planned ecological programs might promote the restoration of ecosystem functions.     

Cooperative Linkages:

This paper reviews the findings from a number of studies which examined the effects that cooperative linkages have had on a sample of small businessed in New Zealand. Assessment is made of the motivating factors for the particular form of linkage selected. Judgement is used in analyzing the success of failure of the cooperative linkage.
