This study suggests a novel approach for decomposing net options demands into the options order imbalances with and without volatility risk. By analyzing a high-frequency index futures and options dataset, we examine the information content of (i) the direction-motivated order imbalance induced by a single option type, which is exposed to volatility risk, and (ii) that constructed by both calls and puts, which is vega-neutral. The aggregate options order imbalance does not convey information after controlling for futures market trading. However, the intraday options order imbalance by trading without volatility risk significantly predicts spot index returns, though its longer-horizon forecasting ability is relatively weak because of a possible cross-market hedging effect. The predictive abilities of informed foreigners’ trades and out-of-the-money options trading are prominent. Our empirical results suggest that the vega-neutral options trading conveys additional information distinct from the futures order imbalance.  相似文献

This study investigates the effect of asymmetry information and illiquidity related to cluster trading on information integration efficiency in the Chinese stock market. The results show that information asymmetry and illiquidity related to cluster trading both negatively affect market efficiency in the Chinese stock market. While the effect of information asymmetry on market efficiency dominates in the informational period, the effect of illiquidity related to cluster trading dominates in other periods, when trading is less concentrated. Noise trading has a positive effect on market efficiency by greatly reducing the illiquidity related to cluster trading; however, its effect on information asymmetry is not significant. Our results provide insight into investors’ trading strategies.  相似文献

The study focuses on comparative effectiveness of two e-tail servicescape dimensions, e.g., product assortment and order fulfillment on consumers’ online purchase intentions for fashion apparel shopping. The mediating effect of shopping assistance and efficiency between e-tail servicescape dimensions and purchase intentions is examined. Additionally, the moderating influence of fulfillment reliability between e-tail servicescape dimensions and shopping assistance is also examined. The survey instrument was used to execute the study and data were gathered from 442 participants from the national capital of India. The hypothesized relationships were verified using covariance-based structural equation modelling (CB-SEM), hierarchical regression analytics (HRA), and bootstrap procedure. The findings reveal that there are certain e-tail value disposition oriented benefits in investing order fulfillment landscape over product assortment. The mediating role of shopping assistance and shopping efficiency is empirically verified and the moderating influence of fulfillment reliability is also confirmed.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a discrete‐time modeling framework, in which the shape and dynamics of a Limit Order Book (LOB) arise endogenously from an equilibrium between multiple market participants (agents). We use the proposed modeling framework to analyze the effects of trading frequency on market liquidity in a very general setting. In particular, we demonstrate the dual effect of high trading frequency. On the one hand, the higher frequency increases market efficiency, if the agents choose to provide liquidity in equilibrium. On the other hand, it also makes markets more fragile, in the sense that the agents choose to provide liquidity in equilibrium only if they are market neutral (i.e., their beliefs satisfy certain martingale property). Even a very small deviation from market neutrality may cause the agents to stop providing liquidity, if the trading frequency is sufficiently high, which represents an endogenous liquidity crisis (also known as flash crash) in the market. This framework enables us to provide more insight into how such a liquidity crisis unfolds, connecting it to the so‐called adverse selection effect.

Understanding the relationship and behavior of microstructures and exchange rates is an essential discussion for global foreign exchange investors. There are numerous research works regarding the linkage between order flow and exchange rates, yet the exact relationship between the order flow and the market price that indicates whether participants have an impact on the market trend remains undefined. This paper investigates the empirical association and behavior of order flow and the exchange rate movements within the time-frequency space, on three popular currency pairs, using the cross wavelet transform and wavelet transform coherency. The results indicate that order flow has a strong negative correlation and is the leader variable of the exchange rate. A predictor using order flow as an input variable was implemented to forecast the exchange rate direction using the sample data and out-of-sample data. This methodology, which performs with high accuracy and very low drawdown, could be a suitable tool for portfolio managers and forex participants during their trading activities.  相似文献

This paper investigates comparative information advantage for foreign and domestic institutions on Taiwan's index options by examining the intraday information content of limit orders placed by foreign and domestic institutions, respectively. The height and length of limit order book provided by either foreign or domestic institutions exhibit predictive power on subsequent price changes in options, especially for put options. The information advantage is more significant for foreign institutions with respect to both call and put options. On the other hand, the results are mixed when order imbalance is used as the proxy of information on limit order book. Foreign institutions outperform domestic institutions for put options, not call options. Order imbalance, ignoring differential aggressiveness of limit orders, fails to capture comparative information advantage for foreign institutions. The superior information advantage for foreign institutions persists during the financial tsunami of 2008–2009 and periods of substantial price changes.  相似文献

In a list, alternatives appear according to an order and the decision maker follows this order to evaluate alternatives. He records the first alternative as the initial survivor and then at every stage, he compares the current survivor with the next alternative in the list to determine whether the next alternative replaces that to become the new survivor. When the entire list is exhausted in this manner, the agent chooses the survivor in the last stage. We call this procedure “iterative” and provide an axiomatic characterization for it when the order in every list is observable. Then, we also study characterizations of the iterative procedure that is prone to the well-known primacy and recency effects. Finally, we analyze situations where the order of alternatives is unknown to an outside observer and provide a characterization result that enables such an outsider with limited information to understand whether the decision maker can indeed be an iterative list chooser for some order.  相似文献

In this study, using panel data models, we analyze whether the capital structure decisions of SMEs in the hotel sector follow the predictions of Pecking Order and Trade-Off theories. The results suggest that these theories are not mutually exclusive in explaining the capital structure decisions of SME hotels. The results obtained indicate that these firms follow a hierarchical order in their selection of financing sources, corroborating the assumptions of theory. The results also show that SME hotels adjust the level of actual debt towards optimal debt ratio as well as size, asset tangibility, growth opportunities, non-debt tax shields, and risk influence debt. These results suggest that the financing behaviour of SME hotels is in agreement with the predictions of theory. Therefore, Pecking Order and Trade-Off theories contribute to explaining the financing behaviour of SMEs in the hotel sector.  相似文献
