Re-examining the link between fairness and commitment in buyer-supplier relationships

By re-examining the link between fairness and commitment in supply chain relationships, this study elaborates on the existing theory that views fairness only as an antecedent. It proposes that commitment can also precede perceived fairness, thus redefining the link between the concepts as bidirectional in buyer–supplier relationships. The study examines both the buyer and supplier perspectives. Based on interviews at 24 technology industry firms in Finland, this empirical study demonstrates that buyer commitment has a positive impact on how suppliers perceive distributive fairness in the relationship. In turn, this effect is reciprocated by the suppliers through a commitment in the form of relationship-specific investments and continuous improvements that are perceived as fair by the buyer. As a managerial implication the study emphasizes the importance of fairness evaluation to the relationship parties.

铁路建设对沿线地区的社会经济发展将产生重大影响,铁路发展有助于优化综合交通运输体系,促进区域经济协调发展,有利于社会生产力布局和产业结构的调整等等。文章在对莆田区域经济发展优势和现状分析的基础上,阐述了向莆铁路建设对莆田区域经济发展的作用,并依据向莆铁路经济带主导产业群选择的主要路径,提出了向莆铁路沿线(莆田段)产业布局的战略构想。     

关于美国轮胎特保案的反思

美国金融危机蔓延导致全球经济出现衰退，贸易保护主义逐渐抬头。2009年9月发生的美国轮胎特保案就是典型的例子。中国企业应该加快推进产业结构升级和国内市场拓展，积极开展区域性贸易合作，实现出口多元化，积极发挥行业协会规范价格，以“特保案”为契机，通过增强国际竞争优势和挖掘国内市场潜力，实现对贸易保护主义的有效突围。     

Neo-pluralism as a theoretical framework for understanding HRM in sub-Saharan Africa

This paper discusses the 'social' nature of employment management problems in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). 'Applied' Western HRM is largely based on unitarist conceptions of organizational reality. Where conceptions suggest a 'stakeholder' perspective, they tend to follow orthodox formulations of pluralism. In that regard, notions of 'stakeholding' refer to the divergent internal organizational interests (mainly economic) of labour and management. In the SSA context, however, the broader social and moral issues of the wider community have a decisive influence on the employment relationship. And internal employment relations structures, such as trade unions, do not constitute the main representative channels for employee grievances. Consequently, established Western employment frames of reference do not represent suitable theoretical frameworks for analysing all the relevant social factors that influence the SSA employment relationship. This paper proposes a modified version of Ackers' (2002) 'neo-pluralist' theoretical framework as the basis for understanding and resolving some of issues involved in HRM in SSA. From this analysis, it proposes a model of HRM that attempts to institutionalize some elements of the 'African social system' into formal HRM policies and strategies.

产业多元化：微型经济体国际比较

澳门产业多元化问题是内地和澳门特区政府以及学术界十分关注的问题。根据产业组织理论,对澳门以及和澳门类似的3个经济体——卢森堡、冰岛和马耳他的产业部门数量和各产业部门在整个经济中的分布进行了比较。使用就业人口和GDP数据计算出的熵指数和赫芬达尔指数显示,澳门的产业多元化程度低于卢森堡、冰岛和马耳他。研究也发现：导致澳门产业多元化程度低的主要原因不是澳门产业部门的数量少,即所谓的＂产业结构单一＂,而是各产业在澳门整个经济活动中的比重不均衡,即所谓的（博彩产业）＂一业独大＂。研究结论可为澳门特区政府制定产业多元化政策提供参考借鉴。     

产业融合产生过程的模型研究

根据自组织理论,产业融合产生的过程以融合型产品出现为标志,分为从无到有、从出现到实现两个阶段。文章结合单个产业发展模型,构建了产业融合产生过程的数学模型,并在此基础上运用数值模拟统计软件对产业融合产生过程的模型进行了验证。文章认为,产业融合模型的合理性及融合型产品的替代效应在产业融合的实现过程中起着关键作用。     

Singapore's Regionalization Blueprint: A Case of Strategic Management,State Enterprise Network and Selective Intervention

ABSTRACT

Strategic management for economic development has been the hallmark of the Singapore ‘success story.’ State-led, market-driven intervention underscored the city-state's development strategies. This paper revisits this development blueprint in the context of Singapore's efforts at regionalization. The paper takes a closer look at Singapore's state enterprise strategy, and the ‘portability’ of the strat-egy–in the framework of Regionalization 2000–beyond the city-state. It concludes that the calculated, schematised efforts, though remarkable, have been overly optimistic and have failed to engender equally compelling results, more often than not frustrated by the intricacies of socio-political realities in the host economies.
