港口物流与城市经济关系的实证研究——基于厦门港与厦门地区经济指标

本文以厦门港1985年—2012年数据为基础,运用向量自回归模型、脉冲响应函数分析等方法,对港口物流与城市经济之间的影响机制做了实证研究。研究结果表明,货物吞吐量、进出口总额、地区生产总值三者之间存在协整关系,港口货物吞吐量对GDP具有持久影响,而GDP仅影响当期港口货物吞吐量,港口货物吞吐量与进出口总额之间存在相互持久的正向影响,建议做好港口建设中长期规划,促进外贸发展,推进港城共荣。     

我国西部市级地方政府门户网站回应性的比较研究——以陕西省咸阳市、榆林市、汉中市为例

基于关中咸阳市、陕北榆林市、陕南汉中市政府门户网站的调研,比较地级市门户网站回应性的情况,利用回应性测评体系及投诉、建议、咨询信息总数量,评述了三市回应性特点与问题,进行了地级市政府门户网站回应性的比较研究,并提出了相应的对策建议。

Performance implications of delayed competitive responses: evidence from the U.S. retail industry

The timing of competitive actions and responses is a key management concern that has important performance consequences. This study focuses on the timing and consequences of competitive responses. Theory predicts a negative linear relationship between response delay and responder performance mirrored by an opposing positive linear relationship between response delay and first mover performance. In contrast, our study suggests that response delay has a curvilinear relationship with responder performance, and a linear relationship with first mover performance. We test our propositions using retail industry data and discuss the implications. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

FX Dynamics,Limited Participation,and the Forward Bias Anomaly

Standard foreign exchange (FX) models with goods price stickiness and instantaneous asset market adjustments imply FX overshooting ( Dornbusch, 1976 ), which can explain the forward bias anomaly. Lyons (2001) explained the anomaly via limited participation of FX speculators due to Sharpe ratios lower than equity market alternatives, which implies FX undershooting to interest differential shocks. I derive the time‐series implications of overshooting and undershooting for the joint forward/spot FX dynamics in a vector error correction model. I use generalized impulse response analysis ( Pesaran and Shin, 1998 ) to test those implications. All FX studied (pound, deutsch mark, French franc, yen, and Canadian dollar) have dynamics consistent with undershooting during the period from 1975 to 1998.

Real Exchange Rate Fluctuations in East Asia: Generalized Impulse-Response Analysis

Using generalised impulse response analysis, this paper investigates the dynamic adjustment of real exchange rates to real shocks for a group of East Asian currencies. The analysis reveals that the fundamentals, or real factors, explain some, but not all, of the variations of real exchange rates, and that the different disturbances have different degrees of importance for each currency. Therefore, there is no universal panacea for fluctuations in real exchange rates. The findings leave considerable scope for policy intervention to mitigate the unfavourable effects.     

Vermont's Act 250 legislation: a citizen-based response to rapid growth and development

Unregulated land development, dramatic increases in population, soaring land prices, and environmental degradation are significant factors responsible for the widespread concern among Vermonters that the state is losing its distinctive rural character and its small, picturesque villages. The citizen legislature responded by adopting Act 250, Vermont's principal land development and land use law. This paper describes the events leading to the passage of this law, examines the major components of this progressive legislation, and analyzes its effectiveness in protecting Vermont's natural resources.
