Technological Centers as a Negotiated Context to Combine Technological Capabilities

Recent perspectives on a capabilities view of the firm often recognize the need for firms to develop an external organization. From a relational view of the industry, the external organization may include economic and non-economic exchange relationships. The decision to combine both types of relationships and its relevance for the firm can be linked to their role for accessing, generating and diffusing knowledge. More often than not, these decisions are however not unilateral. This paper discusses the potential role that Technological Centers (TC’s), created by the collective initiative of some local firms, can play as part of firms’ external organizations and emphasizes TC’s role in connecting economic and non-economic exchange relationships. It is further suggested that the diverse motives and benefits perceived by firms in relating in and across the TC’s and, in general, the relevance of sharing experiences within these contexts, should be seen in the wider context of firms’ specific and idiosyncratic trajectories.     

Perceived Risks in Supply Chain Management E-Collaboration

ABSTRACT

Supply chain management is an accepted concept involving a process-oriented, integrated approach to procuring, producing, and delivering products and services to customers. The boom in applying Internet-based applications is driven by corporate desires to use wireless access, extranets, Internet-based EDI, e-marketplaces, web services and other remote networks for supply chain activities. This paper reports the findings of a study that aims to examine perceived risks of e-commerce in supply chain activities. The conceptual model developed from previous research identifies four types of risks, namely technological, organizational, implementation, and relational risks. The model is tested via in-depth multiple case studies in seven firms from a cross-section of different industries who applied e-technologies in their supply chain activities. The findings highlight factors that contribute to risks and the related undesirable consequences that the firms experienced.     

Boom and Bust Cycle of the Stock Market, and Economic Growth in a Vintage Capital Model

We construct a growth model of overlapping generations with vintage capital. There exists an equilibrium that converges to the balanced growth path through endogenous fluctuations of investment, consumption, and output in terms of the growth rate. When the technological change arrives and a rise in productivity is embodied only in newly invested capital, the economy converges to a new balanced growth path with a higher growth rate of output, but when we interpret the price of existing old capital as the stock market capitalization, the rise in productivity is accompanied by an initial decline in the stock market. Oscillatory equilibria are supported as perfect-foresight equilibria in the present framework with finitely lived agents and capital. Any oscillatory equilibrium is associated with the regime switch from an economy with both young and old capital in use into one with only old capital in use.

2007～2008年间，国家标准馆对公共图书馆、共建共享联盟、专业图书馆和国内领先的地方标准机构总共10家机构进行了调研，调研内容涉及9个领域。通过对比分析，看到了我们的差距，并提出了可行的改进建议。
