Memory recall errors in retrospective surveys: A reverse record check study

This paper reports on a study to compare self-reports during an interview with staff who attended a University health centre in Turkey, with the records of visits to the same health centre over the previous 12 months. Design of the study reflects the effects of importance of the event, duration since the event, frequency of the occurrence of the event, measurement scale of the event, and bounded and unbounded recalling. In order to assess the extent of recall error, responses to retrospective questions on health centre visits are compared with administrative records. Statistical models are proposed for short and long term human memory recall error effects on responses.     

In at the deep end: Conducting processual research on organisational change

This article provides a series of reflections on the practice of carrying out processual research on organisational change. At a broad level, some of the main tasks associated with conducting company case studies are described and the benefits of this approach for dealing with complex change data are outlined. At a more specific level, the article addresses three main areas tied to the actual “doing” of processual research. First, the notion of tacit knowledge and “getting your hands dirty” by engaging in ongoing in-depth fieldwork. Second, the design and implementation of a longitudinal case study research programme. Third, the advantages and concerns of combining a range of different data collecting techniques in carrying out processual studies. Overall, the main intention is to provide some useful reflections and practical insights, as well as providing something of the flavour of carrying out this type of research.

The relationship between major-league sports’ official sponsorship announcements and the stock prices of sponsoring firms

This study presents analysis of the impact of “official product” sports sponsorships with the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Hockey League (NHL), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) on the stock prices of sponsoring firms. The primary finding of the study is that, in the main, announcements were accompanied by increases in shareholder wealth. The 53 sponsors analyzed experienced mean increases in stock valuations of about $257 million. A multiple regression analysis of firm-specific stock price changes and selected corporate and sponsorship attributes indicates that official product sponsorships with the NBA, NHL, and PGA and those with smaller market shares were associated with the largest gains in share prices. Although corporate cashflow (a proxy for agency conflicts) is statistically unrelated to shareholder approval, sponsorships by high-technology companies were associated with stronger stock price reactions than otherwise. Finally, product congruence with the sponsored sport was positively related to changes in stock prices. T. 水中锑的测定方法探讨

该文介绍了孔雀绿分光光度法测定水中锑的改进研究。实验结果表明：改进后的孔雀绿分光光度法稳定、可靠，灵敏度高，其工作曲线相关系数≥0．9998。加标回收率为90．6％-104．0％，最低检出浓度达到0．001mg／l。同时提出了改进后的分析方法及注意事项。     

油(气)田储量技术经济综合评价理论与方法研究

本文从界定油(气)田(藏)储量技术经济综合评价的概念入手,阐述了综合评价的必要性和当前存在的问题;分析了油(气)勘探开发的特点,明确了综合评价在技术经济评价中的重要作用;针对综合评价要求实现定量评价指标与定性描述的有机结合,文章列举了当前综合评价普遍存在的问题为:指标选取不全面、指标权重的确定不够客观,从而形成综合评价的结果的简单无力,不足以作为决策的有力依据等;据此,文章提出构造综合评价指标体系,用层次分析法(AHP 法)确定指标权重的方法.再者,由于油(气)开发决策是模糊决策,因而本文运用模糊集合理论建立油(气)田(藏)储量技术经济综合评价的多层次、多算子二型模糊数学综合评价模型,并通过实例证明该方法的计算方便可靠,符合客观实际。     

年金基金投资理论与经验研究综述

年金基金的投资,在西方国家金融理论界和实践界是一个关注的研究问题。在理论研究上,税收套利模型和卖出期权的资产组合模型存在对立观点。而经验研究说明,年金基金的资产组合与资本市场发展阶段、监管规则、发起企业经营状况等密切相关。年金基金投资推动了免疫、条件免疫等投资技术以及衍生金融产品的发展。20世纪90年代以来西方国家出现了年金的自我投资、治理投资和社会投资等新问题。     

洋务运动时期幼童留学的当代思考

洋务运动时期幼童留学由于诸多原因,最终半途而废,没有收到预期的效果,但它开创了我国留学教育 的先河,为当代提供了经验教训。20世纪90年代中期,我国形成了改革开放以来的第四次出国留学高潮,留学日益 呈低龄化趋势。从总体而言,留学低龄化是社会进步的表现,但带来不少问题,需要予以关注和引导。
