Globalization of Management Education

A new study, sponsored by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, presented a comprehensive new perspective on the globalization of management education, (AACSB International, 2011). Its findings are sobering: with regard to emerging global trends in higher education and cross-border business, the report reveals a sizable gap between what the world needs and what management educators generally do. Key areas for attention include the expansion of mechanisms for quality improvement and assurance globally, strengthening the use of international partnerships, more intentional internationalization within the curriculum, and connecting various global activities to one another through a comprehensive globalization strategy.     

Achieving Synergy from Synergogy

In face of growing public disaffection with American business and American business schools, business faculty need techniques to improve student learning and performance. Unfortunately, most of the new teaching techniques designed to improve student learning are detrimental to student-teacher relationships. This study applied two Synergogy teaching methodologies to an International Business course, and the results were improved student performance as well as improved student evaluations of teacher performance.     

Postcard reminders versus replacement questionnaires and mail survey response rates from a professional population

Nonresponse is a major problem in the use of mail questionnaires. The great number of variables that can influence response rates has resulted in an extensive literature on the subject, but a literature that is restricted to few examples of replication. Moreover, many of the studies reported in the literature were not conducted under controlled conditions. This article presents the results of a study using a single-factor experimental design to test the efficacy of two different follow-up forms in improving response rates. The results indicate that replacement questionnaires are to be preferred over postcard reminders when using a one-time follow-up in surveying a professional population.     

Academic Integrity: The Relationship between Individual and Situational Factors on Misconduct Contemplations

Efforts to promote corporate social and environmental accountability (SEA) should be informed by an understanding of stakeholders’ attitudes toward enhanced accountability standards. However, little is known about current attitudes on this subject, or the determinants of these attitudes. To address this issue, this study examines the relationship between personal values and support for social and environmental accountability for a sample of experienced MBA students. Exploratory factor analysis of the items comprising our measure of support for SEA revealed two distinct factors: (1) endorsement of the general proposition that corporations and executives should be held accountable for the social and environmental impacts of their actions; and (2) agreement that the government should adopt and enforce formal SEA standards. Our findings indicate that the universalism value type is positively associated with general support for SEA, but not with support for government enforcement of accountability standards. In addition, we found that gender has a significant impact on support for government enforcement of SEA standards.     

高职工商管理专业创业教育支撑框架的探讨

文章通过对创业教育文献的总结,从创业教育与专业教育的互补关系的角度,提出高职工商企业管理专业创业教育支撑框架。并且,根据高职工商企业管理专业学生的特点,设计创业教育支撑框架,构建具有工商企业管理专业特色的创业教育课程体系,加强创业教育师资队伍建设,以及创业实践基地建设,以期达到提升学生的综合素质和增强学生的就业与创业能力的目的。

运用PEST模型和“五力模型”分析上海交大MBA教育,结果表明机会和威胁并存、优势和劣势同在。上海交大MBA教育的战略定位应为“国际化、通式化、专业化、精品化”。     

MBA实践教学指标评价体系的构建

实践教学是MBA教育的主要内容,是关乎MBA教育质量好坏的重要指标。因此,对我国MBA教育实践教学环节进行探讨,尝试构建实践教学指标体系,对提高MBA实践教学质量,完善我国的MBA教育体系都具有一定的理论价值和现实意义。文章根据实践教学指标体系设置的基本原则,构建了其指标体系具体内容,并计算指标体系综合评价值。
