Recent developments in the global business environment have led to important changes in accounting/auditing regulations, and have implications for the business school curriculum. While many of these issues are covered in advanced accounting courses, generally taken only by majors, the issues are sufficiently important that nonaccounting majors, at both the graduate and undergraduate level, should be aware of these issues as well. Recent developments favoring the adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the United States provide an overall compelling context for incorporating these standards into the business curriculum. The global workplace requires specific knowledge, skills, and abilities on the part of workers. There is a growing body of research indicating a gap between the global industry demand for skills and the higher education system's ability to supply that demand. Leveraging the work from Yu, Guan, Yang, and Chiao (2005) and Prestwich and Ho-Kim (2007), this study investigated this gap. The sample included global leaders of Fortune 500 companies. Exploratory in nature, the primary purpose of this study was to understand the needs of global business organizations that form the hiring market for international business graduates. The findings highlight the gap between the topics being taught by educators and the skills actually needed by the target international businesses. This information is relevant to the challenges facing global businesses as well as higher education institutions and provides insights into improvements for the good of both industries and especially the students aiming for careers in global organizations. 相似文献

MBA internships are commonly used for training and recruiting management talent. Yet, research overlooks what makes them effective. A longitudinal study investigates the relationships that goal clarity, autonomy, and prior experience have with MBA intern learning and job acceptance intentions. Results show learning partially mediates the relationship of goal clarity to job acceptance intentions, and that less experienced MBA interns learn more under conditions of high goal clarity and low autonomy (i.e., when their roles are more structured). The ethical tendencies of graduate business students from the United States were examined by analyzing their reactions to ethical dilemmas in a replicated study, which presented a set of ethical problem situations. These dilemmas dealt with coercion and control, conflict of interest, physical environment, paternalism and personal integrity. A comparison of these findings with the previous study of marketing managers indicates that the MBA students exhibited a greater degree of sensitivity to the ethical dimensions of business decision-making. World-wide, the MBA has become one of the most popular academic qualifications. In recent years, doubts have been raised regarding worth of the MBA degree, at least in its present form. This article examines the broad trends shaping business education and recommends how MBA curricula might be redesigned to make students globally aware, and be effective in the midst of global competition. Our focus here is on meeting future essential business needs that today's schools fail to sufficiently address. 为了探究企业管理者MBA或EMBA教育经历给中国企业带来的影响以及影响机制,利用2003—2015年1685家中国上市民营企业数据进行实证研究,结果表明:当企业管理者拥有MBA或EMBA教育经历时,他们会更多地选择以并购重组的方式发展企业,但企业的业绩却并没有得到显著提高;当企业管理者拥有MBA或EMBA教育经历时,他们的个人薪酬以及实施“隧道行为”的可能性会显著增加;境外MBA或EMBA教育经历在增加并购重组与“隧道行为”可能性的同时,会更大幅度地提高企业管理者的薪酬,但使得企业业绩不升反降。 相似文献
