Equilibrium uniqueness with perfect complements

The present note analyzes the simultaneous ascending-bid auction with arbitrarily many asymmetric bidders with decreasing marginal valuations under complete information. We show that the game is solvable by iterated elimination of weakly dominated strategies if the efficient allocation assigns at least one unit to every player and if bid increments are sufficiently small. In that unique equilibrium, bidders immediately reduce their demand to the efficient allocation, and the auction ends in the first round of bidding.We would like to thank seminar participants at UC Davis, in particular Klaus Nehring and Louis Makowski for comments. 改革开放30年来,我国宏观调控经历了从以直接的行政调控手段为主到建立起较为完善的宏观调控体系的发展演变过程。30年的宏观调控历程取得了一些成功的经验,也为我们提供了一些重要的启示。从体制基础、发展现状、微观基础、外部环境四个方面分析了目前宏观调控面临的复杂形势,并以此为依据提出了完善宏观调控体系的政策建议。     

从当前网络语言现象看语言规范问题

语言文字是人与人之间沟通的桥梁,也是一个民族文化的重要标志之一。为适应政治、经济、文化等领域人类社会活动的需要,语言的规范使用,其重要性不言而喻。然而近年来,随着我国政治、经济、科技和文化各方面的迅速发展,尤其是网络的普及,社会生活中各类语言现象不断地像潮水般涌来。对网络语言应该区别对待,把那些符合语言发展规律的语言现象固定下来加以推广,使之广泛地为人们的交际服务,而对于那些不符合语言发展规律的成分和用法,则应该根据规范化的要求,按照约定俗成、逐渐规范和词竞众择、适者生存原则,优胜劣汰,取其精华,去其糟粕,使之逐步走向规范化。

目的国制度质量与企业出口生存：来自中国的证据

本文使用2000~2005年中国海关数据库和中国工业企业数据库,从制度质量的角度,描述了出口企业在目的国的动态特征;采用企业-时间固定效应和赫克曼两步法两种方法,研究企业在目的国的生存状况和出口增长情况,同时,分别对不同地区企业和不同所有权企业进行检验,结果发现目的国的制度环境越好越有利于出口企业的生存,但越不利于企业的出口增长。这些结论可为中国企业选择出口目的国以及保持出口的稳定和持续增长提供丰富的政策含义。

国外学者主要从社会心理学研究群体极化现象,国内学者大多从社会传播角度研究群体极化现象,本文总结国内外关于群体极化现象研究的现状。     

Appraising netnography: towards insights about new markets in the digital tourist era

Netnography, a naturalistic and predominantly unobtrusive technique developed by Kozinets for exploring online contributions, was the centrepiece of this appraisal. The authors argue that netnography could play a valuable role in enhancing our understanding of (a) rapidly changing tourist markets, (b) the growth of new markets and (c) the perspectives of culturally distinctive groups. The analysis of the blogs of Chinese recreational vehicle tourists who had visited Australia was chosen as a case study. In studying an emerging market segment from a rapidly changing and culturally different community, the case represented a key test of the value of the approach in generating insights. Practical steps to employ the method – entrée, data collection, data analysis, data interpretation and member checks – were illustrated. Issues arising from the case study for the application of netnography in tourism research were highlighted. They included the value of the detail inherent in the postings, the attendant ability to consider the material using conceptual schemes, the practicality of getting additional information, the need to fully address ethical concerns and the value of supplementary perspectives. Suggestions for ways to adapt the technique for better information retrieval and interpretation were also provided.     

Utility representation theorems for Debreu separable preorders

We prove the existence of arbitrary (resp., semicontinuous, continuous) utility representations for arbitrary (resp., semicontinuous, continuous) preorders satisfying some weakened Debreu order separability conditions. In this way we widely generalize a classical result for total preorders that essentially is due to Debreu.
