Differential Association, Multiple Normative Standards, and the Increasing Incidence of Corporate Deviance inan Era of Globalization

This paper examines with the use of aggregate data from the U.S. Department of Justicethe extent of contemporary white-collar crime as a consequence of multiple normative standards existing within corporations. Given the implications of globalization, the desire for increased profits, and the declining role of regulatory agencies across much of the world (save for Europe, Japan, Mexico and India), paper suggests that the incidence of corporate deviance is likely to increase in the foreseeable future.     

Analysis on Risk and Protection of Business Logistics Outsourcing

With the rapid economic development and the coming of economic globalization, more and more enterprises take logistics outsourcing in order to enhance their competitiveness. While logistics outsourcing brings much benefit to business, it also carries a great deal of risk. This paper deeply analyzes the performance appearance, the sources and the formation cause of the risk of logistics outsourcing. Then it puts forward some measures and suggestions for risk control, which would provide the criteria for decision-making of logistics outsourcing.

Integration of family-owned business succession with turnover and life cycle models: Development of a successor retention process model

Family-owned businesses face a unique obstacle: continuation of the business through intergenerational transfer. Most family-owned businesses cease when the next generation does not enter the business. This paper develops parallels between failed intergenerational transfer and voluntary turnover. Based on past research, we develop a taxonomy of characteristics hypothesized to influence intergenerational transfer in family-owned businesses. We, then, integrate these dimensions with prominent turnover and socialization theories to propose a successor retention process model. Implications for research are described.

信息产品具有高固定生产成本和低再生产可变成本的经济特征,这决定了其创新行为的特殊性和频繁性。本文试图通过一个信息产品的创新决策模型,解释中国移动频繁地推出各种套餐业务的产品创新机理。分析发现,移动通信市场客户需求增长的高速性和移动通信业务本身的低边际成本是刺激移动运营商频繁推出业务套餐的主要动因。

How much does the business group matter in Korea?

We partition the variances of profits of the companies associated with Korean business groups into business group‐specific effects, industry effects, and affiliate company‐specific effects, which roughly match corporate‐parent effects, industry effects and business unit effects, respectively, in the extant literature. We find substantial corporate‐parent effects (here, business group effects) along with industry effects and business unit effects (here, affiliate company‐specific effects). This finding may indicate that business groups play an important role in developing countries by circumventing market inefficiencies. Our results also suggest that these effects tend to be smaller in large business groups and to decrease over time. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Business strategy,technology policy and firm performance

This paper presents a study of the relationships among select business strategy dimensions, technology policy dimensions, and firm performance. The research sought to identify how these variables interrelate at the bivariate and multivariate levels. Data were collected from 103 manufacturing-based firms representing 28 mature industries. Results show that technology policy choices vary widely across firms with different business strategies, and that business strategy affects the strength of the relationship between firm performance and particular technology policies.
