ABSTRACT

China is rapidly becoming the most important luxury market in the world (Lung, 2005). The reason for this is not simply due to the market size but also to the Chinese consumer's particular penchant for luxury goods. This study will investigate the differences between U.S. and Chinese consumers based on their hedonic and utilitarian ratings of luxury goods and the relationship that these ratings have with individual and cultural traits, with the expectation that a collectivist background will lead to a more utilitarian view of prestige goods. A sample of more than 600 Chinese and U.S. respondents was analyzed based on the ratings of three prestige goods. The results show that China is rapidly becoming a more individualistic nation and that the expected utilitarian use of prestige goods is confirmed through multiple statistical techniques.  相似文献

探索不同文化背景下游客的景观偏好是进行跨文化旅游市场研究的基础,但具体的个体差异比如个人主义/集体主义或不确定性规避究竟对游客的景观偏好产生了什么样的影响,目前并没有确切的结论。本研究以世界自然遗产地武陵源风景区为例,选取了7类主要景观类型、19个具体代表景点,综合运用问卷调查和照片评价法面向游客进行调研。通过SPSS软件对问卷数据进行描述统计、方差分析、因子分析、相关分析等,研究发现个人主义/集体主义、居住地都与景观偏好不存在显著相关,但不确定性规避、年龄和景观偏好三者之间有显著相关。  相似文献

Relationship between tourism and political socialisation has not been sufficiently studied as a topic of academic inquiry. Linking tourism to the process of political socialisation, this study analyses the influences and mechanisms of red tourism in China as an agent of political socialisation that serves the ruling party's intention to sustain its regime. Based on field studies in the Jinggangshan Scenic Area, we find that red tourism functions adequately as an authorised form of political socialisation. However, the effects of tourism as an agent of political socialisation are dependent on the discursive interactions among consumers, industry operators and the state. As a new form of advertising, augmented reality (AR) advertising offers a unique opportunity to study how new technology-facilitated ad campaigns are constructed across cultures. This research analyzes the content of 117 AR ad campaign videos uploaded on YouTube, and reveals the prevalent characteristics of AR campaigns. We compared videos from individualistic countries with those from collectivistic countries. Results suggest that AR ad campaigns from more individualistic cultures tend to include product information and enable a user to control the virtual AR content, whereas AR ad campaigns from more collectivistic cultures tend to allow a user to become part of the virtual AR content without manipulating it. In closing, we discuss managerial implications for marketers and advertisers as well as opportunities for future research.  相似文献

巨变时代,员工工作疏离感的消极体验所带来的负面效应不可小觑,领导者如何降低员工的工作疏离感成为学术界与实践界关注的热点。文章整合社会交换理论与社会信息处理理论,以322名员工为样本,基于组织集体主义视角揭示了自我牺牲型领导对员工工作疏离感的跨层次影响机制。研究结果表明:自我牺牲型领导对员工工作疏离感有显著的跨层次负向作用,上下级关系中介了自我牺牲型领导对工作疏离感的作用;组织集体主义不仅跨层次中介自我牺牲型领导与工作疏离感的关系,而且跨层次调节上下级关系与工作疏离感之间的负向关系。  相似文献

The classic study of the relationship between technological innovation and culture has been that of the influence and changes wrought by a technological innovation upon a culture: The Culture Follows Technology school of thought. In this paper we examine the opposite flow: the influence of culuture upon the technological innovative capabilities of a society-Technology Follows Culture.
