The impact of the length of preceding and succeeding ads on television advertising effectiveness

This study investigates the impact of the length of immediately surrounding commercials on the effectiveness of a given ad with the consideration of sequential order relations between two consecutive ads. The results show that the effect of proactive inhibition, the effect of an immediately preceding commercial, is fundamentally different from that of retroaction inhibition, the effect of an immediately succeeding ad. This study also found that proactive interference is stronger than retraction interference on the effectiveness of television advertising. Practical implications and suggestions for future research are also discussed.

通过对数字对讲机在严酷环境条件下产生故障模式的原因分析,得出结论:三防设计的缺失是导致对讲机失效最主要因素之一。本文以手持式数字对讲机的结构设计为研究对象,运用三防设计的设计原则和方法,优选材料,减小结构设计对产品性能的影响。从而,大大提高数字对讲机在恶劣环境中的适应性,降低产品故障率。

本文通过探讨了软件展现给用户的三种姿态类型,分析了在各类姿态下用户的实际使用情境,从而总结出不同姿态软件在界面设计布局中适用的设计原则和方法。     

A Hybrid Approach to Quantitative Software Project Scheduling Within Agile Frameworks

In this article we focus on the quantitative project scheduling problem in IT companies that apply the agile management philosophy and Scrum, in particular. We combine mathematical programming with an agile project flow using a modified multi‐mode resource constrained project scheduling model for software projects (MRCPS^SP). The proposed approach can be used to generate schedules as benchmarks for agile development iterations. Computational experiments based on real project data indicate that this approach significantly reduces the project cycle time. The approach can be a useful addition to agile project management, especially for software projects with predefined deadlines and budgets.

The SEC's Proposed IFRS Roadmap: An analysis of comment letters using content analysis and textual software

We examine comment letters written in response to the SEC's Proposed IFRS Roadmap using traditional content analysis and CLUTO, a unique text clustering software. We find that while there is strong support for the idea of one set of high quality global accounting standards, a majority of respondents are opposed to the proposed roadmap. Additionally, our results suggest that comments received systematically differ with respondent characteristics such as respondent type, firm characteristics, and industry affiliation. Finally, the complementary use of CLUTO with manual content analysis and the robust results obtained from CLUTO, provide support for the potential use of CLUTO to examine large textual databases in future accounting research.

The great majority of the research papers, related to the automotive sector, have mainly focused on the analysis of the mechanical nature of the vehicles and barely on the study of the electronic nature of the new vehicles. To raise the profound changes occurring in the last four decades, it is necessary to explain how the components and the electronic systems have transformed the nature of the automobiles. The aim of this paper is analyze the nature of the evolutionary processes involved in the transition from the car, as a complex system, to a complex adaptive system.
