Market-Entry Strategies in Poland -

This paper reports findings of a study undertaken on market-entry strategies of UK firms in Poland. It presents a cross sectional profile of UK firms investing in Poland, their motives for entering the Polish market, and their entry strategies and assesses their performance in terms of their entry strategies and experiences with regard to financial, technological, marketing and strategic aspects. The paper compares the findings with international market-entry theory and concludes by examining managerial implications of the study.     

Using Internet Resources in Teaching Financial Reporting and Analysis of Multinational Enterprises

Abstract

There has been an increase in the number and type of sources of corporate financial information on the Internet in recent years. The number of corporations that have web pages which post corporate financial information is increasing; in addition, many government and regulatory agencies are also posting corporate financial information. Furthermore, there are some third-party sites that post corporate financial information. In recent years some software has been developed or is in the process of being developed to gather, analyze, and monitor information available on the Internet to accomplish specific tasks on behalf of users. The purpose of this article is to provide some sources of corporate financial information on the Internet and illustrate how to use these resources in teaching international business and, more specifically, financial reporting and analysis of multinational enterprises and to point out some of the advantages and limitations of these resources.

Development and Validation of Ethical Computer Self-Efficacy Measure: The Case of Softlifting

The concept of self-efficacy is concerned with people's beliefs in their ability to produce given attainment. It has been widely applied to study human conduct in various settings. This study, based on Albert Bandura's social cognitive theory, proposes the employment of self-efficacy for investigating people's ethical conduct related to computer use. Specifically, an ethical computer self-efficacy (ECSE) construct concerning software piracy is developed and validated. The measurement model of the construct was rigorously tested and validated through confirmatory factor analysis. The results suggest that ECSE can be operationalized as a second-order factor model. The first order constructs are termed use&keep (do not use), distribution (do not distribute), and persuasion (persuade others not to commit piracy). These factors are governed by a second-order construct of ECSE. This construct could be useful to research a wide range of information ethics in the future.
