While most strategic group research has focused on performance implications, we consider the relationship between strategic group membership and reputation. Using strategic group identity and domain consensus concepts, we propose strategic groups have different reputations. We find significant differences exist in reputation across three identified strategic groups of U.S. property/casualty insurers, supporting our contention that reputation is a multilevel concept. Post hoc analyses suggest strategic groups with higher reputation also have higher performance on some critical measures, indicating reputation may be a mobility barrier beneficial to members of certain groups. The level of agreement among a firm’s top executives about how things are done in that firm has a variety of important implications. For example, agreement about a firm’s decision-making norms may allow members of the top management team (TMT) to focus on the substance of their most critical decisions and not get bogged down in debates about the process. In the present study, data from 65 firms in two industries were used to identify determinants and consequences of TMT agreement about the comprehensiveness of the strategic decision process. Results for consequences indicate that the level of TMT agreement was positively related to organizational performance. As for the determinants of agreement, organizational size was negatively related to agreement but past performance exhibited no association. Therefore, the results suggest that it is TMT agreement that influences performance, not the reverse. In addition, a surprising result was that firms in an industry with an unstable environment exhibited significantly more agreement about the process than did their counterparts in an industry whose environment was stable. © 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

区块链是比特币的一个重要概念,它具有分布式数据存储、安全可信、去中心化、防篡改等特性。该设计分为两个模块,即存储模块和区块链模块,选择IPFS可信文件存储系统作为存储模块,而对于区块链模块,将对其进行一个重新设计,最后将两模块结合设计成一种基于混合区块链的产品溯源系统,该系统除了能够保证溯源信息安全可信,出现产品质量问题可快速定位相关责任人之外,还解决了传统溯源系统的容量小、效率低和开销高等问题。  相似文献

This study deals with an emerging domestic rail travel phenomenon among Korean youth, known as Rail-ro (Railo), which has influenced aspects of youth culture and domestic tourism in Korea since 2007. The purpose of this study is to determine whether Railo experiences exist as a coherent culture among Railers based on cultural consensus analysis. The result indicates Railers’ strong agreement about Railo experiences, which reinforces the view that a particular rail pass could be instrumental in forming a distinct youth travel subculture. This study demonstrates how travel culture driven by the seasonal rail pass supports domestic tourism and inbound tourism.  相似文献

This paper provides novel evidence that investors can build a better performing portfolio by exploiting industry level consensus recommendations. A minimum variance portfolio, combined with consensus recommendations, yields a higher Sharpe ratio and certainty equivalent returns. A minimum variance portfolio with no short-selling constraint consistently outperforms an equally weighted portfolio when exploiting consensus recommendations, which is an innovation compared to the existing literature. Our results suggest that sell-side analysts and brokers provide valuable information in the financial market and we benefit from incorporating the information in the portfolio optimisation.  相似文献

This article canvasses the arguments in favour of a more active and conciliatory approach to consultation than is generally the case for resource allocation and environmental decision-making in the UK. It looks at the experience of consultation in shoreline management and flood defence decision-making in East Anglia, England. It concludes that there are many different ways of conducting and justifying mediation, but that there are strong social, political and economic arguments for widening the consultative arrangements and ensuring a more face to face participatory role for representative interests.  相似文献
